Silent Hill 4: The Room

Great port of this game. Played with Xbox series x controller and everything worked great. Im really happy about this game! Definitely going to beat it more than once. Thank you so much GOG for bringing this game to Windows 10!

Konami has finally made one of the original four games widely available in decent quality, something that fans have been craving since the HD Collection was butchered in 2012. There is an added bonus of improved framerate, native widescreen, and other bonuses. I am unsure if the missing hauntings were restored from the previous PC port from 2004, but if not, then that is the only major blemish in an overall solid release. If Konami is looking to win back Silent Hill fans, then this is a solid step in the right direction. Fingers crossed that Silent Hill 2-3 get the same treatment.

I've been hoping to see the Silent Hill PC ports come to GOG for a really long time. They had been on the community wishlist for so many years that I had almost given up hope that they would ever arrive here. Therefore, I was more than thrilled when I finally saw them arrive here. For a moment, I couldn't believe my eyes. "Silent Hill finally on a modern digital distribution platform? I must be dreaming!" As for this port, I am among the people who would have prefered a more modernized edition. I would have loved it if it had achievements, full modern controller support, and some intuitive default M/KB controls (even tho I admit that would've meant basically a new release altogether). Nonetheless, it is amazing as it is. It plays completely out of the box if you're playing with M/KB, but I would advise some control remapping, since the default ones are horrible. Other than that, however, it's DRM-free, has cloud saving, modern resolution support, and the FPS in the cutscenes has been fixed (along with the fact that, obviously, it installs perfectly fine on Windows 10). It's great to finally see Konami invest in bringing their classics to modern systems, and even though this has been said a million times in the other reviews as well, I would REALLY LOVE to see the other Silent Hill entries (particularly 2 and 3) on GOG as well. (Don't kill me if I say this, but I would also love some ports of Origins, Shattered Memories, and Downpour. I would totally pre-order them Day One. I know that others may disagree, but don't kill me please, I love y'all :D)

Amazing to see this game on GOG and fingers crossed for 1, 2 and 3 coming to GOG. I have to give this game so much credit for trying to do something different with a classic series. Taking control of a complete average joe as his entire world is warped and twisted is a wild ride. While I don't think everything works in the game (I'm not up to the escort section yet) and the controls are slightly clunky, the game should be praised for attempting to do new and if you have any interest in horror games, you should absolutely check this classic out.

Having played SH1, 2 and 3, this port being easily accessible in 2021 is the reason i gave it a chance. The game's atmosphere brings a unique feeling similar to the previous games but still different that fulfills the element of novelty.
