Silent Hill 4: The Room

Неужели Konami вспомнила, что у нее куча отличных старых игр и их можно ПРОДАВАТЬ. Сначала MG, MGS 1,2. Щас Silent Hill 4, может додумаются 1,2 и 3 части перевыпустить. Вобще 4ая часть Silen Hill одна из моих любимых чатей серии на ровне со 2ой частью, хоть по моему и не такая атмосферная как 2ая. Из минусов это разрешение экрана 4:3 и отсуствие руссих субтитров, но на ZoG есть, работающий с GOG версией игры, руссификатор.

I've never written a GOG review before but felt compelled after playing this game for about 2 hours. First off, it's great just to have SH4 available for a low price and fully compatible with modern machines. I'm surprised Konami even did this, and although it's pretty weird that they chose to start with the final and most polarizing game in the original Team Silent series, this is hopefully just the beginning of getting Silent Hill 1-3 on PC eventually (we can only hope). The game itself is great, albeit extremely strange. The controls are clunky and the UI takes some getting used to, but it all serves the greater purpose of making you feel as uncomfortable as possible. The atmosphere, art direction, sound design and music are all phenomenal, as was the standard for Team Silent's games. I'm still early into the game myself, but keep in mind that SH4 is kinda notorious for becoming very tedious and unfair the further you get. However, I would still absolutely recommend playing it if you have any interest in horror games at all. Now as for the quality of the port, it's very barebones. You can tell this is a PC port of a PS2 game from the mid 2000s, as there are very few video options, the menus don't seem to work perfectly with either mouse or gamepad, some textures are super low-res, and the first person controls definitely feel like they were designed for the PS2's stiff analog sticks. You'll have to spend some time customizing your controls too, as the default gamepad setup is terrible. That being said, it gets the job done and by all accounts seems mostly bug-free, although I experienced a hard crash to desktop about 30 minutes into the game. Keep in mind, this game has manual saves from set points with no quicksave, so if this were to happen halfway through a level you could lose a lot of progress. I haven't seen anyone else comment about this so hopefully it was just bad luck on my part, but be warned. I'll update the review when I beat the game.
