Definitive Sherlock Holmes experience
I picked up this game at a sale after hearing good things about it, and those good things were definitely warranted. This is as close to a perfect Sherlock Holmes experience you're going to get in a video game! In the game, you play as Sherlock Holmes as he solves six unique cases along with Doctor Watson while Sherlock's brother Mycroft investigates a mysterious terrorist group on the rise known as the Merry Men. Each case has its own gallery of suspects, and thanks to the Deduction system, you can reach different and contradictory conclusions based on whether you rule specific evidence substantial or not. The game thus really rewards pressing on with your investigation even if you have already reached a conclusion. Furthermore, the game also has a moral choice system as at the end of each case, you can either choose to absolve or convict the suspect of their crimes. If you have solved all cases correctly, I would guess the mystery will be a bit gone on replays, but there is still some replayability in replaying the cases again for their stories and seeing some of the outcomes you didn't choose on your last playthrough. I only have some minor problems with the game, though - some cases are more in-depth than others ("The Abbey Grange Affair" in particular feels very short and clear-cut), Sherlock's disguise kit is used way too little, and some of the minigames can be very tedious; I skipped two of them simply to get on with the story. However, I can't sing this game's praises enough - definetely check this one out if you like Sherlock Holmes, detective games like LA Noire, or if in general you'd like an atmospheric and well-written gaming experience!
