In the first official expansion pack for Quake II, you are part of an elite commando force that must infiltrate a Strogg site. Once inside, you must scour industrial landscapes, crawl through waterways and air ducts, navigate treacherous canyons teeming with vicious mutants, stow away on an alien spacecraft, and destroy the enemy's secret moon base.
Mission Pack: Ground Zero
In the second official expansion pack for Quake II, you, and a few marines are the lucky ones. You've made it to the surface of Stroggos in one piece and are still able to contact the fleet. The Gravity Well, the Strogg's newest weapon in its arsenal against mankind, is operational. With the fleet trapped around Stroggos, only 5% of ground forces surviving, and that number dwindling by the second, your orders have changed: free your comrades and destroy the Gravity Well.

The game is great, I recommend it
The new version is great, it hasn't lost anything from the original atmosphere, it's just a refreshed Quake 2

Best Quake and best way to play it!
Yep going hard this is an amazing remaster and compilation of pretty much all the official addons and N64 game which is a side story. I have beaten Both PC and 64 campaigns and it was just as fun and challenging as in the 90s. Ok the reason for this is the AI has been super charged also some new scripted sequences and graphics nicely redone. I got full music or most of it for all 4 main games think Call of Machine re uses main game music. This runs flawlessly on windows 8.1 even though it says win 10 or bust. My only gripe is the achievments don't update or carry over from different computers.

Still strong
Runs great on Linux, and is still strong. I play it in local LAN with my two kids. My very old PC even runs the enhanced version - together with my children we play the original version. Music is also included.

Bugged savegames for the addons
The main game run great at 1600x1200 but the DLC are full of savegame issues.

Genuinely made me love Quake 2
I never managed to get past the early game of Quake 2 when I was younger. The addition of the compass as a re-usable item is genius for someone like me who lacks the patience of backtracking when I run out of enemies to kill and no idea where to go next. Now I've always got a tool at my disposal for whenever I get lost and its wonderful.
