Sadly Unoptimized
I'm really trying to enjoy PINE but the performance just gets in the way. To give some context I'm running this on an i7-8700 + RTX 2070. The gameplay and art direction are pretty solid I just wish it ran better.

Может это прозвучит противоречиво, но эта игра может быть залипательной, но при этом совсем не цепляющей. Игру я прошёл и почти на всём протяжении она не вызвала никаких сильных эмоций. Мир игры сказочный. но при этом, если всмотреться в него, он очень жестокий и несправедливый, и поэтому реалистичный в самом плохом проявлении. Пять племён, готовые вгрызться друг другу в глотки и готовые убивать ГГ только за то, что он помог любому другому племени. Жестокие люди, ярким представителем которых оказывается ГГ, которые, несмотря на его заверения, наверняка снова когда-нибудь захотят устроить всем геноцид. И вся эта жестокость - она не служит атмосфере игры, это бытовая бессмысленная жестокость, появившаяся из-за особенностей геймплея. Начинается всё как классическая история о консервативном обществе и одном любознательном подростке, который хочет найти лучшую жизнь. Но мир игры таков, что консервативное общество было право - открывать этот совсем не дивный и не прекрасный мир не стоило. Да и в результате это общество просто сменяет одно замкнутое убежище на другое. Никакого душевного подъёма в процессе не возникло. Меня терзает вопрос - это ли хотели показать создатели игры? Апатию, безнадёжность, жестокость и бессмыслие? Я сильно сомневаюсь, но если так, то что-то в сюжетно-разговорной части очень сильно не докрутили. А если нет, то не докрутили еще больше. В техническом плане игра очень шероховатая. Стандартный набор проблем с текстурами - они исчезают, сквозь них проходишь, в них застреваешь. Игра загружает тебя почему-то не в том месте, где сохранялся, и после загрузки появляются собранные ресурсы, что можно абузить. Кажется после загрузки откатываются не только ресурсы. но я специально не обращал внимания. Боёвка в целом-то приемлемая, но медленная и неуклюжая. Но механики игры работают и в неё можно позалипать, если поставить самому себе какую-то цель. В результате ставлю три - не плохо и не хорошо. Удовлетворительно. Пойдёт.

full of jank but not the good kind
rebindable but clunky controls, making mandatory platforming and combat even more frustrating. long loading times. annoying typewriter effect for text display. annoying gibberish without a separate speech volume setting. hunger, stamina and constant resource-gathering to keep them up, along with non-refilling health. hold instead of press to interact and pick stuff up. from what I've read it gets worse later with a questionable reputation system and whatnot but I threw in the towel after an hour or so. price is crazy too.

I don't recommend this game.
I bought it full price when it first came out. I was bored to death and the trading system was not what the original trailers advertised. I expected an advanced trading system where I could profit! Nope! no profeits, mostly loses as you lose neturality with other races just by trading to get those resources the race you want to befriend desires. Uhhh! So must waste of time trying to improve my relationships jsut to see them drop to enemies with once friendly action to another race.

Human is the bottom of food chain.
This game has massive potential. If you need to cure that Zelda itch then this game may scratch that, but it may have game aspects you are not familiar with. Gameplay & quick-dive into the world of Pine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Tc29cEDlHQ Your human tribe needs to find a new home in a world newly discovered by your species. This world is ruled by animal tribes you must fall in line within its circle of life. Although the trading and political aspect of the game may not appeal to many it's not overly complicated. You give a certain species tribe stuff you have collected and they like you more. It just doesn't seem to appeal to many of the adventure games players and that, unfortunately, includes myself. It does leave you tons of options on how to play the story. So if you like to explore all aspects of how to go about your journey. This would be a game for you! The crafting is simple enough and gathering is straight-forward. The combat requires more tact and timing rather than just hack and slash. Also knowing when not to fight and when running may save yourself a headache. With all this said I didn't experience any technical issues with the game. It ran smoothly without error. I would recommend the game for a player that likes adventure games like Zelda and also likes to explore the numerous ways you could about completing the journey.
