12 дней в странном городе, терзаемом чумой.

Время — всему голова: если вы за ним не уследите, оно утечёт впустую. Придётся крепко думать о том, на что именно тратить драгоценные минуты.

Триллер про выживание в обществе. За своим телом придётся следить, отыскивая способы одолеть голод, жажду, усталость и так далее. Одним только поиском ресурсов не обойтись. Выжить в одиночку почти невозможно — научитесь располагать к себе людей.

Чем дальше — тем хуже. Сперва будет сложно найти общий язык даже с собственным телом… а потом — ещё сложнее. При первой удобной возможности организм вас предаст. В этой игре ставки заведомо не в вашу пользу.

По городу можно перемещаться абсолютно свободно — здесь нет никаких искусственных ограничений. Можно зайти в любой дом и постучать в любую дверь — если, конечно, вы готовы к последствиям.

Дуэль с непобедимым врагом. В «Море» ваш главный противник — сама Чума, бесплотная и злонамеренная. А инструментов, которыми её можно одолеть, нет. Единственный шанс — попытка её понять.

Воруйте, грабьте, убивайте, торгуйтесь, выпрашивайте… или не делайте ничего из перечисленного. Чтобы выжить, вам понадобятся еда, питьё, лекарства и прочие припасы, но как их добывать — дело ваше.

Схватки коротки, жестоки и безыскусны — как в реальной жизни. И часто — до смерти. Ведь большинство противников интересуются вашим кошельком, а вовсе не жизнью.

Mesmerizing, original

I just finished my 2nd plathrough of Pathologic 2 and I must say I kinda fell in love with the game, having played 65 hours over the course of 2 weeks. The game offers an absolutely unique gaming experience. Survival, healing and storyline come together in a truly wonderful way, not to mention the superb soundtrack and a nice graphic design. Many games attempt to be philosophical, but pathologic offers its insight in a very natural and mature way. First game in a long time that actually made me think deeply about who I was and how I wanted to progress. The difficulty is high, but manageable and the game offers enough time and resources to make it through. I found that there was sufficient room for error, even on the "intented" difficulty. I experienced a few minor glitches, but restarting the game always helped. I also wish that the tutorial had explained the more advanced mechanics as well, not just the basics of survival and healing. Other than that, a wonderful game.

Испытывали ли вы когда-нибудь такой сильный голод, что в поисках еды лезли в мусорки только для того, чтобы найти в них лишь зеленую слизь сомнительного происхождения, но даже такая находка казалась удачей? Приходилось ли вам убивать детей ради порошков с незадокументированными медицинскими свойствами? Стояла ли перед вами задача по спасению неблагодарных спиногрызов на вид столь опустошающе невыполнимая, что даже гигабайты гомоэротического фанфикшена на мотив сношения протагонистов сего произведения не могли поднять вам настроение? Эти и многие другие возможности ждут вас в ремейке игры Мор.Утопия. Мор. Утопия (или Pathologic по-степному) это проплаченное Монгольским правительством произведение искусства, в скобочках оружие пропаганды, направленное на распространение монгольского традиционализма на Запад. Игра освещает планы Халтмаагийн Баттулги по разработке биологического оружия с непревзойденным потенциалом (т.н. Песчанка), противостоять которому по задумке авторов не сможет ни просвященная интеллигенция, представленая в игре Бакалавром/Люричевой/Каинами, ни ВПК в лице генерала Блока, ни исполнительная власть Сабуровых, вообще никто. Это оружие должно обеспечить его создателям полную и безоговорочную идеологическую победу над врагами Уклада. Единственный выход, предлагаемый в произведении - добровольное самоуничтожение чужеродных политических структур изнутри и преклонение перед монгольскими идеалами. Возможно, вам и не кажется это плохой альтернативой, но важно понимать следующее. Продвигаемая произведением идея утопии™ - буддистский биопанк, в котором индивид не существует как отделяемый объект, счастье населения гарантируется промышленным выращиванием твири, а высокая эффективность производств - эксплуатацией детского труда, а также вовлеченностью детей в торгово-обменные отношения. Это ли желанное нами будущее? Гражданин, выбирай осторожно и на распродаже купи лучше беззубый и безобидный симулятор ходьбы про проблемы людей первого мира. Так победим!

What a game to play during a pandemic...

Pathologic hooked me from the start. The storytelling, the world, the characters, the mystery - everything perfectly interwoven. Big props also go to the excellent way it made use of the economy throughout, as you rarely get a game that has you considering so thoughtfully what you need most and how far you're willing to sink to get it. In most roleplaying games, when a weak character offers you a reward for helping them, you automatically turn it down to score the good boy points. Not so here. Because what you're being given could seriously make the difference whether someone lives or dies that day. If you've got food on you, you might make the risky trip to help a person that needs treatment. But if you're low? Well, those are hours you simply can't spare because you're in dire need of supplies. Really, what I want to say is that you shouldn't feel too intimidated by the description if you want to check this out. I despise time constraints in most games, but it's so integral to the flow of your experience in Pathologic that you won't ever wish you could play it without it.

Title says it all. Go in to this one knowing nothing. But prepare to be punished. Prepare to be frustrated. Prepare to be angry. Prepare to shout the word "unfair" more than you've ever shouted at a game before. And prepare for the experience to stick with you for long after you stop playing. It's a horrible time, you're going to love it.

Sister Death

Only at life's end, you see that your whole life was a lesson, and you were a careless student at it. There I stand with my lesson unlearned. The teacher is out. "Pack your books and leave". I would be glad to be "punished" by someone, to be "left without lunch". But no one will punish. No one needs you. Tomorrow, there will be a "lesson". But for others. And others will study. You will never be taught again. (V. V. Rozanov, "Fallen Leaves", 1913, and my best effort to translate it to English) In Pathologic 2 you play the role of Haruspex who left his hometown to study medicine. He receives a worrying letter from his father and takes the train home to find his father dead, his friends changed dramatically, and everyone thinking he has killed his father. A few in-game days later, things go bad. The game is unfair. It is unfair to the point that you have a dialog option to say how unfair it is. There is always a chance that you loose even if you do everything right. You can spend your day running around the town protecting your friends to find out that Fortuna turned away from them and some of them are dead. Just like in a real life. The game is hard. Survival mechanisms may seem annoying, but they are important for the experience. At some point, you'll find yourself starving to death. There is barter economy in the Town, and you approach a child to offer him/her marbles or a bug in a box, but you don't have enough. Still... you know, you can kill the child to get food. It is not about "possible or not", it is about moral choices. Just like in real life. The game is fascinating. Striving to feed Haruspex and change (or at least see) the fate of the Town, I was constantly forgetting to eat. The game is cruel. Surprisingly, not as cruel as real life: you will be punished and "left without lunch" in it. The game is all about death. This game is definitely worth playing. P.S. For those who want the citation in Russian, search for "вся твоя жизнь была поучением".
