12 дней в странном городе, терзаемом чумой.

Время — всему голова: если вы за ним не уследите, оно утечёт впустую. Придётся крепко думать о том, на что именно тратить драгоценные минуты.

Триллер про выживание в обществе. За своим телом придётся следить, отыскивая способы одолеть голод, жажду, усталость и так далее. Одним только поиском ресурсов не обойтись. Выжить в одиночку почти невозможно — научитесь располагать к себе людей.

Чем дальше — тем хуже. Сперва будет сложно найти общий язык даже с собственным телом… а потом — ещё сложнее. При первой удобной возможности организм вас предаст. В этой игре ставки заведомо не в вашу пользу.

По городу можно перемещаться абсолютно свободно — здесь нет никаких искусственных ограничений. Можно зайти в любой дом и постучать в любую дверь — если, конечно, вы готовы к последствиям.

Дуэль с непобедимым врагом. В «Море» ваш главный противник — сама Чума, бесплотная и злонамеренная. А инструментов, которыми её можно одолеть, нет. Единственный шанс — попытка её понять.

Воруйте, грабьте, убивайте, торгуйтесь, выпрашивайте… или не делайте ничего из перечисленного. Чтобы выжить, вам понадобятся еда, питьё, лекарства и прочие припасы, но как их добывать — дело ваше.

Схватки коротки, жестоки и безыскусны — как в реальной жизни. И часто — до смерти. Ведь большинство противников интересуются вашим кошельком, а вовсе не жизнью.

The Dream of a Writer

After deeply analyzing the ending that I ended up choosing in Pathologic, I realized that this gaming experience represented for me one of those instances in life where your way of thinking is altered, perhaps not drastically, but even to such a point that I believe that now I see life with a clarity that previously eluded me. Pathologic has an enviable rhythm, which catches and forces you to play for just one more hour; it has a script that, as a writer, I can only dream of achieving, and that gives depth and charisma to its characters, because no one is purely bad or purely good in this story, and every decision is important, drastic, and has bittersweet consequences. It is a difficult game, so much that it becomes overwhelming, but the game explicitly tells you this has a purpose, so you trust it and accept it, waiting for a life lesson ath the end. So, ¿does it pay off? It does; I won't spoil anything, but the feelings of triumphalism and satisfaction once you reach the end while never turned the difficulty down, become rewards that you want to talk about to everyone. The game truly transforms this experience into your own, hard-earned story. The soundtrack stays with you for days after it's finished, and the art direction is beautiful and immersive. I have nothing negative to say about this game. I treasure the 35 hours it gave me, and although I am dying to experience a second round to explore closed avenues and better understand some details of the story, I am proud of every decision I made on my first journey. On the other hand, if one is a playwright, novelist, or screenwriter, Pathologic plays like a Brechtian play, and as such is a wonderful, intellectually powerful example, which has a lot to teach. Ultimately, I think it is a masterpiece.

A great reimagining of a great game!

Pathologic 2. Pathologic 2... This game is a reimagining of the original Pathologic. While the basic story, town, characters and gameplay are similar, the game does have it's differences, and is quite a different experience too. I don't want to tell too much about the story here. You play a doctor, trying to find a cure for the so-called sand plague. Although I never really had any problems in the original game, I actually began anew after the first half of the game, because I thought it would be too difficult to survive now. One of the main problems in this game is hunger. Instead of the quests from the original, in this game, you just talk to people to witness events and gather thoughts about them in a mindmap. You're not even supposed to see all of them, but instead only a part of them, a part of the whole story. As weird as it may sound, but the whole storytelling here is surprisingly good in my opinion. In the original game, you had to save people from the sand plague. Unlike in the original, unless you fully heal someone, there is no guarantee, that giving the sick people antibiotics will make them survive for another day. Like in the original, once you get used to it, and learn a few tricks, on how to survive, or how to fight, it becomes a lot easier. Overall, this game is a huge improvement in almost every aspect. Gameplay-wise, story-wise, but also on other smaller aspects like the graphics. Should you play this game? I guess it depends. The game consists of a lot of talking, walking, and being almost dead. But it is unique in it's own way, and if you don't have a problem with a lot of reading, or a real challenge in terms of difficulty go ahead. Some games stay with you forever

Unique, challenging and breath-taking game, managed to complete it only on my third attempt. Game is really well balanced, but be aware, that this piece of art is really good at making you feel precisely, what being in a plague infected city feels like. For those, who is afraid of horror games, like myself, there are no really screamers or moments full of horror, which will scary you a lot, it's rather atmosphere of the mystery and plague, so nothing really to afraid of, except of the plague and darkness of the night. And for those, who doesn't like shooters of fighting games - I made it to the end of the game without any fire gun and tried to minimize attacking other people, and in fact, this really game forces you to think twice before you make any risky decisions. I liked how they managed to combine dialogue-based game with survival mechanics. Dialogues are not extremely heavy, but you'll have to read them, in order to understand the story and get interested in it. I also liked a lot, that in this game, city and it's citizens, houses, are not just there for decoration - you will have to interact with them and this interaction is based on essential survival mechanics, and you will appreciate and even miss it, when luxury of interacting with somebody won't be available to you. Everything is alive in the Pathologic 2, and reacts to you, your actions and can impact your live significantly. Characters are made with precision and details, they have soul, and you do get attached to them, and probably, you'll remember some of them, long after you've completed the game. Also, failure is not always something bad. Be aware of that, when you play this game. And don't give up. Portion of fresh air in my gaming soul. I was under great feelings after finishing this game. I hope they're going to manage to complete other two parts of the story and make Linux port, but I will remember this game and recommend it to you.

Good miserable time

Died over 100 times before I finished the game because I'm bad at games, never gave up because it's just so interesting. Pathologic 2 tries a lot of uncommon things that are difficult and stresses the player out. This game really succeeds in making you feel negative emotions (I mean this in a good way), which is a rarity in games. Not for everyone, and I really have to be in the mood to play it. Pathologic 2 is worth playing because there is almost nothing else that resembles it, even Pathologic 1 is different.

Impressive reimagining of a cult classic

Pathologic is a fascinating, unique game from one of the most brilliant, unique studios making games right now. You can expect an interesting and original story (which suffers significantly from how sparse it becomes towards the end as well as the fragmented way in which it is told but is nonetheless full of cool ideas), an impeccable grim atmosphere, a strong and occasionally gorgeous visual style, and, maybe most importantly, a nontraditional design philosophy. The game is about a catastrophic plague and a town that gradually collapses over twelve days, and that permeates not only the story but also the gameplay. Pathologic is difficult, frustrating, and stressful to play -- by design. It sacrifices conventional fun for genuinely excellent gameplay-narrative integration. Do not confuse this for realism -- there is nothing realistic about, say, the hunger meter in this game. But the relief or excitement it makes you feel when you find food is spot on for a starving, dying town. The mechanics are all geared towards a specific effect that's perfectly aligned with the story/theme. It may sound kind of unpleasant, and it is, but the game remains engaging throughout -- even if this gameplay design doesn't work for you at all, you've still got a good story, philosophical themes, complex characters, great atmosphere, and a strange and surreal setting. All that said, keep in mind that the game has some serious technical issues at the moment. Performance and optimisation are subpar, and the game becomes increasingly buggy towards the end, to the extent that some storylines can become dead ends as crucial dialogues or other quest interactions randomly become unavailable. But if you can deal with the technical problems, and especially if you're interested in more experimental games or at the very least enjoy games for their atmosphere and story, you will probably find a lot to like here.
