Know what you buy. Thoughts after 7h.
First, an advice - go watch youtube let's play. First 3-5 hours of gameplay won't contains real spoilers and you will know what this game is and what it is not. That is very important because amount of legends and (miss)information that built up is stupendous. This is not a game for everyone because: - This game does not hold your hand. It gives you basics and practically let you off. You won't have constant nudging in plot direction. In 8 hours I've played it gave me one nudge and tutorial. You will have to come up with stuff to do by yourself. - Inventory management. For first something like 5 hours (give or take depending on player real life intelligence) this will be irritating. When you figure out what to do about it, it will be much easier. - Combat is bare bone, relatively uninteresting and actually a nuisance rather than anything else. This game can be boiled down to one thing. Exploration in big scale. Again, this is a difference between what players are used to - something to find in every little corner - and what this game gives you - something to find every "little" while. You will not find stuff everywhere you look and what looks like a dead end is actually most often then not a dead end without any goodies. Looking long enough you are sure to stumble on something atypical. Be it unusual and funny animal, nice scenery or interesting technology. Diligent looking under every rock will actually be very, if not extremely, inefficient. Speaking about technology - at that moment it appears to me that technology is very limited. I'm not sure if this is because i'm slagging off and keeping to outer rim of the galaxy or it is actually a limit in the game. On the other hand, this game is IMHO extremely relaxing. There is no rush to do anything, you can just goof off wherever you want most often than not without any combat.
