Buggy and shallow.

Look, I respect the glow-up this game has gone through as much as the next guy. It FUNCTIONS now. ...mostly. It finally fulfills most of the promises it made on launch. And while there's a hundred and one new things you can work towards, the issue is that half of those things barely work as advertised if at all, and the core gameplay loop never really graduates from "go here, hoover up eight tons of resources by clicking on them, and use them to make more and fancier stuff". I enjoy plenty of grindy games, but the grind needs to feed back into the game's other systems and vice-versa in a meaningful way. NMS is notably lacking in that department, so no matter how much cool junk I unlock it always just ends up feeling hollow and performative. The game not crashing to desktop every 20 minutes is about the only improvement made since launch that actually affects how much enjoyment I'm able to get out of it.

Alright, Not Worth 59.99

This game looked amazing when I first watched a game play video and I did not watch anymore since I did not want to ruin the game for me. But the thing I have learned is they showed everything that u see in the videos is all they really did, there isn't anything interesting in this game I was so disappointed, I was hoping for missions or something to make it a fun enjoyable experience didn't really care if there was any online but this game is not worth the 60 dollars that u have to pay for this game its not a finished game, not trying to compare the two games but ARK even tho its poorly optimized there is more content in that then there is in this AND its still in early development. This game is alright but its not worth the money spent for the lack of content in it, all you do is walk/fly, discover stuff, sell shit, rinse repeat. I feel Hello Games did a poor job communicating to the public on what direction they were taking this game towards for consumers with all the delays it made seem like they were gonna add lots of content and you think with a 3 day delay for PC release this game would be optimized.

My first thoughts and opinions

So i have been playing No Man's Sky on PC, here are some of my thoughts on the game so far.... the game is big, like the planets themselves are HUGE! i went into this game looking forward to the whole "exploration" aspect of this game, and they delivered on that and then some. although yes flying to a monolith i often find myself getting sidetracked very easily and next thing i know i am lost in a cavern mining resources so i can sell for money or to make upgrades, fuel and various other items. the feeling of "I was here first, i saw this planet untouched, i discovered the plants and animals first" is a great feeling, there is also the feeling of contribution, the fact you upload your findings to the server (For PC the server is PC only, as PS4 is PS4 only server) they reward you with money for your discoveries and to which you are able to rename to whatever you choose (im guessing within reason of course :P) prior to you uploading them to the server. the data you upload can be anything from Plants, wildlife, locations, planets, Solar systems and galaxies. although the feeling is great, it does have a nasty shadow to it too, Random frame drops from 60 down to 9-12FPS now this can fix itself after a short while, but most times i have had to SLOWLY get to save beacon just to be sure its saved and then close the game and reopen, oh and dont think about minimizing or ALT+TAB the game, it will crash, it does not like that at all hahaha so yes, No Man's Sky is an interesting game of exploration, space piracy and relaxation, hopefully hello games fixes some of the bugs and make it a bit more stable, look forward to seeing how the go about the base building mechanics and if it works well.

This game is my cup of tea

Absolutely no problems running this game for me. Thoroughly enjoying it so far. Have made a few tweaks to optimize the performance, but not absolutely necessary. Looking forward to exploring my home planet then setting off for distant planets. Thanks GOG and Hello Games. Ignore the haters.

Not for everyone, but worth playing

Despite the division of people expecting the second coming of god, the only issues I've had were some slightly poor optimisation. Haven't had a crash in 11 hours of gameplay so far despite alt-tabbing and other things designed to break the game. I even run an ultrawide setup and while the game does not have hud support for it, it DOES have FOV support for it, which I'm grateful for! Do you want constant action or is the joy of discover and wonder something that captures you. If you fall into the latter camp and you're a fan of games like Journey, Abzu, Fract OSC or especially Proteus, then there is definitely something here for you. If you enjoyed the lonely wilderness of Firewatch you may find something here to like as well. The game has captures the thrill of jumping into a spaceship and travelling the cosmos to EXPLORE. While procedurally generated, there are genuine moments of awe to be had in the sheer variety of landscapes to see and races to meet. It falls down with the repetitive nature of the gameplay and the physical structures, maybe its a little too hand-holding, but many players probably don't realise how small the team that created this was. Sony didn't exactly help here with their hype machine and the full retail price. For the record, I have not regretted paying full price for this and haven't been this addicted to a game in ages!
