Neverwinter nights.
I spent countless nights and enjoyed this game thoroughfully. More complex and slower than BG, but also deeper. Hordes of the underdark is one of the best expansions, drow civil war uooo. Shadows of undrentide is not so good. It has endless replay value. It's been so long that I played it last, I owe it a revisit, but ahhhh time is so scarce now. Many rocking classes specialities, I can only recommend. Just it has a bit steeper learning curve than BG, not it's difficult to enrole but slower. Also the payback is larger.

Keeps Getting Better
I love this game in any form. I have it on Steam but prefer GOG's platform, and, at the price when I am buying it ($4.99) it's a steal. When I installed it new decades ago, I knew I'd be playing it until the day I die. GOG makes it possible with the offline installer and auto updates. Love it!

Good: ++ for combat - storytelling
The game is really good and with campaigns like HOU or user made modules (Swordflight) it is worth the money. The good: - DnD depth when creating caracter - multiplayer - GREAT MODULES !!! (Swordflight!) There are some problems nevertheless: - you have direct control only over your character (and cannot set up party) - very few companions (one or two) at the same time - story of original campaign is slooow and pale when compared to BG 1 or 2

A great game.
Neverwinter Nights has always been one of the greatest experiences in gaming I've ever had. I have more hours in this game thann I really should. For a great many years when I was younger, I lived and breathed this game. To this day, I still play this game. No other game has ever had me come back quite like this one. As for matters of Beamdog. They have improved this game. They fixed multi-player, and they make this game playable on my television with the expansion of the UI, which when you are on a sixty inch screen, means all the world. I am not really sure what people expect them to do. But simply by fixing these issues, they have helped bring back numbers to the game. People that review the game unfairly are doing more harm than anyone. Also, as a builder, they have added new features into the toolset that are quite nice. On top of that, my toolset crashes less often now. Anyone that has ever done any building know how much of a nightmare a crashing toolset can be.
