Myst Masterpiece Edition

An amazing title that i played at my youth, and now over a decade later still amazes me, even my younger brother (who before he saw myst thought that all of the older games weren't as good as games now en days) looked at the game with eyes opened and said "this looks better than Marrowind" (his favorite game for the xbox) and know wants to experience the epics of old with a new set of eyes. . . my only con for the game back then and now. . . I HATE THE PIANO PUZZLE

Unplayable on Windows 7 64 bit. I've tried compatibility mode and every other fix listed. Shame, as I would love to play this version of the first great adventure game.

I was so excited when I found this available for download. I had no problem installing and running the game and it was just like I had remembered, classic Myst. HOWEVER, there is a huge issue that I haven't been able to solve and haven't found anywhere else online. There are 0 red or blue pages in the game which makes the purpose of collecting the pages and traveling to all the different worlds pointless. I was also unable to get the lights on in the stoneship ship room even after successfully charging the generator. I tried re-installing the game, running it on Windows compatibility mode and unfortunately had no luck.

I like mist but it wasn't what I was expecting. I'm sure if you are patient and take your time this game is amazing. I spent three hours wondering around an island as big as my porch and did as much as flick a few buttons and read about five books. I'm very certain this is a classic deep down I just didn't see it.

You know, I have heard a number of other people - in person or on the Web - say that Myst was the reason that adventure gaming went on the decline that it did from the mid 1990s until now. If indeed that is the case, then it is because of a single reason - Myst executed the ideal of adventure gaming. There was no real backstory because none was needed; you were simply a person drawn into the place depicted in the image of a strange book, and you need to find out where you are and what you need to do to get back home. Further, there is no need to have knowldge of the developer's thought process to proceed through the game; many of the puzzles of the game can be overcome through experimentation, intuition, and visual and audial cues. This, my friends, is authentic advenure. It also helps that the world is so inviting (even after almost 20 years since the original Myst came on the market) that you will want to return to the worlds of Myst long after you have figured out all of the puzzles and secrets. If there is a classic game to be had, this is it.
