Blast from the past!
For me it´s the best Shooter of 2019. The level are very well designed, there are many secrets in it, they are huge and threw scripting events they´ll change their look. The gameplay is fast and tons of enemies are in front of you, especially in the late game. After 15h 28m I beat the game. Now, I´m waiting for an Ion Fury 2 ;)

Bought due to U-Turn on censorship
I decided to buy this game (which was on my wishlist) to support the decision of the publisher / developer to reverse the censoring of the game + refrain from censoring going forward. I grew up with the likes of Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, SIN etc. and any game that wants to bask in that glorious pastime needs to embody the spirit from back then in those games. I decided to start supporting games / developers / publishers that are in line with my values and believes. That's why I bought Ion Fury now although I have a ton of games to play as well as Darq last week. And you should, too to help us draw a line in the sand of what's ok and what is not.

Let's hope there's coop!
Ion Maiden is a step in the right direction for old school gaming, with excellent 2D elements and an incredible amount of detail within the HUGE 3D scenes. The music is fantastic and sets the pacing well for blasting on enemies...BUT, why would it be missing some of the niceties of indie developed mods, or even its own brethren. It seems strange for a game coming out today, especially one that pegs itself as the next evolution in the proud build engine lineage to be lacking a "mighty foot" quick attack. It just seems missing while crawling through hallways shooting mysterious cloaked figures. And while I can forgive the lack of multiplayer for now, if this game is still missing cooperative lan play when complete, it will be the first build engine game (that I know of) to skip that, which to me doesn't encapsulate what Ion Maiden is supposed to be about; all of the strengths of the build engine with none of the weaknesses of system constraints. It would be sad if the best version of this game was a modded version years after release, that's all I can say. If the dev's read these comments; seriously, take a leaf out of Brutal Doom's book and go for the best, most visceral version right from the start. Also, seriously, make your sprites follow the camera, you can't see enemies below you if they're paper thin!

So Far, So Awesome
Fast and fluid. Extremely fun weapons to toy around with. Large and highly interactive environments, filled with multiple areas to explore. Good sense of humor, devoid of god awful political correctness. Great use of 1990s cyberpunk aesthetic. Modest hardware requirements. Linux compatibility. Setting the graphics on 640x480 software mode feels like a pretty cool time machine. The only downside being a lack of multiplayer (2018-12-15), which has been teased for the final build.
