Impossible Creatures

I had never heard of this game prior to a week ago, now it's one of my favorite RTS games of all time! The RTS mechanics feel closest to Starcraft with some Age of Empires sprinkled in, while the animal mixing and customization feels like Warzone 2100 with RPG elements. With that said: the gameplay is phenomenal; familiar, yet fresh. Then they tie it together with a batsnake insane story straight out of 2003 that I would do an injustice by spoiling here, it absolutely is worth the price for this element of the game alone. My top reason for the purchase has to be multiplayer/LAN; with your customized animal army being usable in multiplayer, you can swarm your friends and family with hoards of Darwinian horrors for a countless number of hours. TLDR: Amazing and unique RTS experience, well worth the price

This game is good. It is fun. Is it anything special (apart from the whole unit combining)? No. But it is fun enough. Has a 15 mission campaign. No difficulty for skirmishes. A good 10 to 20 hours depending on your skill in RTSs. Oh, warning, not RTS noob friendly.

Самое лучшее, что есть в игре – это редактор существ. Забавно играть в Франкенштейна и сшивать всяких уродцев. Стратегическую часть осилить не удалось, застрял на второй миссии – компьютер тупо выносит валом зверей, не могу за ним угнаться. Озвучка сильно раздражает – однотипные фразы все время повторяются голосом дебила – "Бофф, нафу бафу атахуют!"

I owned the disk version of this game way back when and the game was really great. The things that ruined it for me were as follows: (Keep in mind I still had loads of fun with it!) -You couldn't combine more than two creatures. The game doesn't allow you to create a chimera of 3 or more creatures. Only two. I must ask "WHY". Why was such a silly limitation placed on a game that was all about making impossible creatures? I always craved making a 3 creature combination or even 10 or 20. I just wanted to create the best creatures to my hearts content but I was never able to do that. I don't think any mods ever came around to fix this sadly, and I honestly can not imagine how nobody else was ever inspired to do anything like this. Maybe it was just a limitation built into the game that made it.... Impossible...? -Enemy AI in the campaign seems to have infinite resources and will rush player 1 to their very quick doom. Cheating AI in Real Time Strategy is pretty common and almost expected as normal of course. I had to use cheat codes to make it to the end of the very stressful campaign that did however, have a great story line. Loved parts of the game, Had other feelings about the rest. Left me craving what could have been and what should have been. If you're really bored, it's worth it but you might want to look up those cheat codes first to avoid rage-quitting.
