Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is the brutal conclusion to the Hotline Miami saga, set against a backdrop of escalating violence and retribution over spilled blood in the original game. Follow the paths of several distinct factions – each with their own questionable methods and uncertain motivations – as unforeseen consequences intersect and reality once again slips back into a brilliant haze of neon and bloodshed.
Blistering combat against punishing opposition will require intense focus as new variables, weapons, and methods of execution are introduced throughout the struggle. Let the striking colors of an unmistakable visual style wash over as you meticulously cut down those that would stand between you and the ultimate meaning behind the massacre. This is the finale, this is the unquestionable end.

People say that Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is worse than first game. I didin't play the original so I can't tell if this is true. What I do now is that fast-paced combat and FENOMENAL soundtrack make this game a lot of fun.
This is a puzzle game masking as an action game. it wants to be a movie, and its plotlines are a 10/10. The aesthetics and the general themes have influenced me so much, but the product jsut doesnt hold up as a good videogame. I can handle difficulty, but there is not really any payoff in the difficulty provided here. It is more of a relief to get through a difficult part, rather than a reward. it poses its levels as challenges one has to figure out like a puzzle, but it also throws in randomized elements into the mix, which leads to an rng-fest since you really have to plan everything before you go into the stage and start killing. I want a game where i feel i have control over the outcome of my actions when mastering the mechanics. but here, i do not feel that way. i feel utterly helpless and like the game forces me into a narrow box of choices, where as a good game lets you be creative and lets you express yourself in your own playstyle.
Hotline Miami 2 brings more of the same top-down shooting action from the first one, but adds more. The game graphics and controls are the same as the first. The music is still great, but I think the first one had better music.
The biggest differences is the developed story and character styles. The story is more fleshed out and explains more with a conclusion. It is very thought provoking and will leave you thinking about it after you play or search YouTube for the meaning of the story by others' points of view. It is told in a "Pulp Fiction" style which is chronologically out of order. You will be assigned a character to play rather choosing from a variety of characters/masks in the first one. Each of the characters have a unique way to play. Sometimes you can choose between two masks on some levels. I think this is because of how the game relates to the story.
If you liked HM1 then you will enjoy this one as well. Some players complain that the level designs are for more gun-fights than using melee weapons. I disagree because I played about 85-90% of the game using a melee weapon, so you can still play through the game with a melee weapon. But, some parts of levels will require you to use a gun, but this is very minor.
