Heroes of Might and Magic® 2: Gold

It was February 1997 when my parents announced that we would get our first computer in the house. 15 minutes later I was at the store buying a PC gamer so I could get some games ready when I get the computer. We only received the computer mid-April so I spent two months reading the same PC Gamer and staring at the CD with the adventures of the Coconut monkey and a demo of Heroes II. So whats the deal? I played the demo of this game, one single map, for 8 months without getting bored.. This game was released in the golden age of fantasy games with the likes of Diablo, Warcraft 2, etc. I give credits to the simple gameplay, nice soundtrack, immersion, this is a feel good game and definately worth 9.99$ BUY THIS GAME

Have to give this game five stars still, because it's completely awesome. It's a shame though that in this GoG release they do not have the operatic theme songs for each castle which were probably the best game soundtrack ever. Also on Windows 8 it's very jittery. What's happened here GoG?!

I used to play this endlessly for years. Then I upgraded my pc and the old discs wouldn't run on Win7. I gave up playing and eventually got rid of the game (DUMB DUMB DUMB!) After some time of trying many other games I just couldn't stand it anymore, I had to get heroes 2 back. I was going to go the emulator route but there are many issues with that choice. Then I found GOG. Cheap price, brilliantly easy to install and I am once again enjoying my all time fav game. I can't tell you how much I enjoy this. I'm ecstatic to be playing this again. Highly recommend gog.com as this download version of heroes2 is tweaked to play on Win7 and Win8. Awesome!

This is by far my favorite Heroes game. However, one thing that I have a problem with is the lack of opera tracks in audio. I remember them being there in the cities, but for this gog release, they are not. I think the gog forums have some fixes to implement the opera tracks, but it's still one more obnoxious step I have to do to get everything running 100% like it did back in the day. That being said, I still highly recommend it. This is still an incredible release and works well under Win10. It's very easy to waste hours in this game because of how addictive it can be.

First off, let me explain the title: my first contact with this series was a demo of this game. A simple demo, I don't even know how many years ago... I played it for over 100hours. Hence, the "original" Heroes game for me. Also, it was because of the expansion that comes with this game, that I registered here and bought this, as I already had Heroes 2, but I needed the expansion and couldn't get it. So I also have this game to thank for introducing me to this wonderful site. This game is completely addicting, and the only flaw it had was the small number of campaigns, which, albeit long and challenging (even on easy), there were only 2. Luckily, this one includes the expansion, which means, among other things, FOUR MORE CAMPAIGNS. I won't be writing much more about this, I will just say that this game can be played by anyone, it can be as hard as you want and can be played for hour-long marathons or only a few turns each time. It's cheap, do yourself a favor and buy it. And Heroes 3 Complete as well. As a final note: grab a friend and start a hotseat game. It's better than playing board games, and just as brain-exercising. Takes longer too, if you want.
