You soon meet Samantha Miles, an agent of a sketchy world-wide conglomerate, who claims to know you. As she helps you with your identity, you aid her in the quest to find a long lost friend and missing agent. When the original events of Doom 3 unfold, the two of you must scramble for safety while still tracking down the missing agent and your identity.
Haunted by fragmented memories and guided by the familiar voice of a girl named Lee, you’ll unearth bittersweet flashbacks, and fight for survival as a mysterious and deadly invasion spreads from the shadows of Mars.
Doom 3: Phobos is a free mod for Doom 3, available to anyone who owns the base game and DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil Expansion. It is developed non-commercially by Team Future.

Great mix of immersive, thoughful storytelling interspliced with intense combat that raises it a level above the original Doom 3. Hopefully, a sequel is in the works.
Some cut scenes were a bit lenghty in my taste, but all in all it was an anjoyable and well fitting together. Much needed minigun rebalance was welcome : )
Don't get me wrong, I love DOOM as much as anyone else. The issue with this game: delivery, conveyance, and pace. You have some of the same enemies, with the addition of one new one (not spoiling it here). But I'll start from the top.
Delivery: Yes, I get that this is a fanmade project. But the delivery of story is kinda all over the place. Sometimes people feel flat when things are poppin off. Then there's times when characters include unecessary info, leave info out, or the conversation seems edited and parts that should have been cut out are left in or it's just scrambled to a point where you find yourself thinking, "Okay... wot?". Again, I get that this is a fanmade mod, so I don't expect a performance akin to Santa Monica Studios.
Conveyance: Knowing that this is a fanmade project, I still can't forgive the conveyance. There are too many times when you find yourself asking, "What do I dooooo? Where do I gooooo?". Even the original DOOM 3 game and expansions had things like the PDA system to track codes, info, and objectives. Not to mention helpful things like actual signage or text on doors letting you know where you're at and where you're going. Not in this game. And not to mention, times when you can visibly see a location where you came from, from your current location. You do a thing, and see enemies coming from that earlier location and your brain immediately reasons, "Well, if enemies are coming from there, I must need to go there." Wrong. I could rag on conveyance forever. But I won't. These are just a few examples of this.
Pacing: The pacing is- Idunno what to say. They tried to make combat fast-paced, which is cool. Kinda like DOOM 2016, goin back to them good ol' run-n-gun roots. Problem is, they're doing this with a DOOM game structure build on a framework of atmospheric horror. Not "I'm runnin and shootin demons! WOOOO!". That said, there are still some pretty DOOM 3-esque slow paced, atmospheric, horror elements. But for the most part, it's not.
