Diablo + Hellfire

Diablo 1 was my very first PC game and arguably the best Action RPG in existence when adjusting for time period. The remastering fixed a load of bugs that 10 year old me had to deal with and I could not be happier. I've been waiting for this for ages and I'm delving into the labyrinth like never before. Thanks to Bliz for subbing this task out to GoG and thank you GoG for making this possible. It would have been a colossal waste to let this title remain in abandonware hell.

Even for it's time it's still surprisingly a chill game to kinda lay back and finger blast your mouse for more hours than I expected in a full playthrough. The imagery, especially towards the end with a certain Altar was a nice touch of horror. Of course it's old, so the only thing that really grinded my gears was the ranged mobs and how they would run, run..and keep running from you the whole way to Narnia when you played as a Warrior, lol.

This is a game that i thought would never see again aside for other questionably sources, it is definitely one of the best games of its time and one that help set the path for many Action RPG games such as torchlight or Path of Exile. It is still the same slow and clunky game that I played many years ago and it is stills feels awesome with is music and design, while it is true that it hasnt age well, its still represents one of the best experiences out there and a must play for any action rpg fan, just to see how far this types of games has gone. First and Last: This game should be played, start to finish, by every gamer on the planet. Period. You need the story line, and you need to experience how it was implemented. Period. Are the graphics and mechanics dated? Yeah, they're old as piss. However, compare them to the other trash that was being released at the time and you'll see why this was the first viral game in existence, with hundreds of thousands of people playing it online (at the same time) during it's hay-day. The first game to top that record? Diablo II. AFTER you have completed the story line at least once, you should: 1) Consider trying to beat the game with different characters. The game mechanics change significantly by character type. One person might find it simple to play one character type, yet have serious challenges with another character type. 2) Consider downloading and installing Belzebub (Diablo HD). It has updated graphics, better screen sizes, AND has all of the original content that Blizzard ditched hacked back in to the game. You can think of Belzebub as the 'Director's cut' of Diablo. https://mod.diablo.noktis.pl/ 3) Consider purchasing and installing Hellfire, the only 'official' expansion for Diablo ever released. I say 'official', because Blizzard didn't release it, they authorized Sierra to release it. https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Diablo:_Hellfire I highly recommend going through Belzebub at least once before playing Hellfire, though, to get the complete experience. With any luck, by the time you get done playing vanilla Diablo and Belzebub, GOG will have released Hellfire as well. :D Hellfire adds a couple of new character classes (which were actually re-introduced in Belzebub). It also includes a few new dungeons, and tons of new quests, including the infamous Cow Quest (NOT the cow level). 4) IF you ever get bored enough (which I never have) you can seek out and play various mods for Diablo. If I recall, the Hellfire expansion enables you to use mods, YMMV.
