Play as Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist’s curse which slowly crystallizes her body. In order to save herself, and indeed, all of humanity, she must battle her way through a demon-infested castle summoned by Gebel, her old friend whose body and mind has become more crystal than flesh.

Addictingly tight and satisfying gameplay alongside a rich new story in the gothic dark fantasy style of Koji Igarashi, the celebrated godfather of "Igavania" games.
Story cut scenes and NPC interactions fully voice acted by a star-studded cast, including actors like David Hayter, Ray Chase and Erica Lindbeck to name just a few. (Seriously, we have a lot of voice acting star power in this game, it's kinda nuts...)

I'd like to change my review once I've beaten the game, but after an hour of playing my first impression is that this is a lackluster game sold on fandom and hype.
I've picked up seven different weapons so far and they all have a single, boring attack animation that you spam instead of a combo. The first boss is a bare-breasted, tentacle hentai monster.
When attacks and elements come in from the background, they don't stand out enough to present to the player, leading to unecessary damage.
Graphics and music are excellent, but overall it feels more like an Early Access title than an effort from a seasoned studio.
This is all my first impression, which I feel should be stronger for an action game from Igavania himself.
ArtPlay and 505Games have scammed Linux (and MacOS) players on Kickstarter. Regardless of the "game" "quality", this and every 505Games or ArtPlay products will get the lowest score from me. They deserved it, IMO.
I bought this game out of curiosity. Unfortunately, this game relies heavily on demonic and alchemist themes and symbology. I didn't feel a good vibe playing this at all, so I stopped playing it. + the game feels low budget.
I picked this game up because of the positive reviews and almost cult like following. Unfortunately, it's just not that great. There are so many other better side scrollers out there. Dead Cells, Ori and the Blind Forest, or the 2.5d side scrolling parts of Nier: Automata.
The graphics are not bad. The main character, enemies, and bosses are all fantastic quality, but the difference in texture quality between the characters and the environment is off-putting. Anti-aliasing feels broken. Even on cinematic settings and 4k resolution, the jaggies are visible and distracting during cinematics.
I did not care about the story at all. It’s either awful fan service or an exploration into the narcissism of a second-rate writer. I found myself skipping through as much of the dialog as possible and banging my head on the desk when I saw an interaction prompt for NPCs. The drawn-out story and dialog only chips away from an otherwise unenjoyable experience.
The controls are tight, but the game is just not that challenging. I see a lot of comparisons between this game and the heyday NES side scrollers. It's not a fair comparison. This is just not a good game.
