60% puzzles, 40% story

I've played the first Black Mirror more than 10 years ago, then from DVD. I liked the story. What I didn't like was the puzzles. Now I've bought this part as a sales bundle. Just played through, by using a walkthrough. Honestly, I don't think it is very much worth your time. While the first part feeled more story, less puzzle, this part feels like to story is just a frame to keep the puzzles together. You've got static backgrounds with 3D characters animated into it. In some cases the textures of these characters are really shabby (like of the second character you see when you start up the game). A minor nuisance is the inability to set 2560x1440 resolution. The save menu is a bit odd. At least a sort of switch is appearing after a while if you cannot solve a puzzle in easy mode. Voice acting (English) is OK but the volume mixing is abysmal. Voices are often to quiet while you have to put down pretty much all other volume levels to even understand what is going on. There are quick time events (QTEs), and - similiar to the first game - a very aggressive background music during such sequences. It also isn't very long. Most puzzles are also not very logical and some items you pick up are not used until hours later. The overall playtime (with a walkthrough) took me about two days (like 10 hours).

A Great Adventure Title

Played it many years ago but still remember it, a great thriller mystery, that keeps you actually wondering till the end. Great mechanics and memorable story, good graphics (for the time) and a good voice-over. Can recommend for anyone who hasn't played it yet

Fun and longer than expected

Pros: Interesting characters Good storyline Surprisingly more content than expected Enjoyable gameplay and puzzles, none that couldn't be solved without some trial and error. Nice visuals with lots of different locations Diary system works well and helps a lot when you put the game down and come back to it days later Cons: Voice acting not so great Some of the puzzles you're just thrown into without much or any obvious clues on how to solve them Not a lot of horror elements for a horror game The first half of the game drags a bit The amount of stuff you collect in your inventory before it becomes useful is kind of annoying. Some things are also downright silly, like oh were just going to put an entire ladder in our pocket, okay then. lol Overall I really enjoyed the game, I like to play point and click games for the nostalgia and for me they're low stress forms of interactive entertainment. This one kept me interested the whole time and wanting to play the third installment when it was over. Got it on sale for a couple bucks, what more can you really ask for?

Solid point'n click!

I found 1st part of Black Mirror enjoyable adventure and 2nd continues with the same level without significant improvements in any area. Start can be experienced a bit slower paced, but story starts evolving well and makes you want to progress. Atmosphere is strong as well it was in the first part and it was nice to visit the familiar places and listen what has happened during the years. Difficulty level is on the easier side, so you can expect a relatively fluent run having couple of puzzles which require bit brainstorming. Voice acting is bit meh, but music & graphics are nice and user interface is working. Solid performance. Thank you developers and time for me to install the third part of the series.
