A rough gem

Keep in mind that I haven't played any of the other games in the series (mostly due to them not being on GOG), so I'm not going to compare any of the other games to this one. The premise is that your an assassin from 1189–1192 during the Third Crusade, in which you are tasked to seek out info about targets on what they've done, and kill them. There is a bit more to the game than this, but this is what your mostly doing. So, here's what I like: 1. I like the setting. Seriously, how many games do you know of that take place in the Middle East in 1000 A.D. that aren't strategy games? We need more exploration in this timeline. 2. I like the movement. I'm not meaning about wall climbing or sword play, but I mean walking and talking, punching or grabbing, it all looks so natural. Though the horse could use a bit of work. 3. I like the cities. They look like places people would live in, not to forget that there are people there going about their day to day lives. 4: I like the exposition. Not really of the story or the writing, more of what everyone has to say, each one having their own ideologies that really give a feel for everyone there. 5: Sword-fights. Yeah I know he's not like a Rambo killing machine, but he's not trained to be one. He's an assassin, he's trained to hide in the crowd and escape, and I'm glad that's a main core part of the game. What I don't like: 1. They did the whole give-you-every-ability/weapon-from-the-start-then-take-it-from-you-in-the-start, I don't know why they do this. Why not just give weapons off as progression at the start? 2. I'll admit, Altiar (protagonist) is a bit annoying, but I tolerate it a bit for understanding that he's young and immature. You, however, may not. 3. Racing side-mission. Ok, dealing with guard picking on town fold, understandable. Moving to the top of a building to get a better view of your surroundings, makes sense. But what does racing have to do with anything in the middle east?

Nothing is true everything is permitted

Это одна из первых, пройденных мною до конца, игр. Помню даже, как начинал ее с начала, сразу же после финальных титров, настолько она мне понравилась. Плюсы игры: + Необычная концепция научной фантастики + Красивая и стильная графика + Механика паркура + Неплохая боевая система со зрелищными добиваниями + Интересный сюжет (как в современности, так и в прошлом) + Занимательный социальный стелс + Очень атмосферные города Немного минусов: - Однообразные дополнительные задания - Бесполезное собирательство (флаги, флаги повсюду) Очень ностальгические чувства у меня связаны с первой частью Assassin's Creed. А в целом - это хорошая и интересная игра, не без проблем конечно, но лично для меня, она многое значить и навсегда останется приятным воспоминанием :)

Still solid

Honestly, it's still a pretty solid game. While the graphics and gameplay don't compare to other AC titles, it's still fun and stands tall as a good game. My only problems are that stealth isn't quite as fleshed out as it could be (something that is remedied in other AC games), and there was this weird bug where I had to disconnect my computer from my wifi in order to stop stuttering. Other than that, it's worth a playthrough.

Good opener to a great series

I played these games on Playstation, and I can say the first one is the hardest to get through. The overall story is fantastic, but like everyone else says, the actions are too repetitive. There are only so many things you can do in this game, even with it's open world design, I remember the first time I played it I loved the story, but it took so long for the plot to move because of all the repetitive actions you had to do, so it was hard to get through. With that said, if you look at the whole series (ACII, ACIIB, ACIIR, and the upcoming ACIII) the overriding story is fantastic, and if you want to play those you just HAVE to see how it all began by playing this before going to any of the others, which greatly improved on the mechanics and story with each subsequent title. See how it all started by playing this game. It'll be hard to get through the first one, but the beauty and the graphics will hopefully keep you going until you finish this first one and move onto the next games.

Relaxing game to parkour and explore in

The game tries to hold your hand a lot, but thankfully you can turn off many of the GUI settings quite easily, for you don't need them to enjoy the game. (In fact, it hampers your experience) The game is so well crafted that you don't need a map for all but the racing and target missions. The NPCs give you plenty of hints on where is what, and the city layout is easy to read and fun to navigate. The mission types are repetitive, yes, but not for the sake of being repetitive. When you progress down the storyline, you'll slowly teach yourself to listening and watch for other behavioural cues what NPC's to pay attention to. This is where the repetition comes in play. Things become natural to you, especially when you play without the map and have to 'pay attention' to the beautifully crafted world around you. The game expects you to become a master of it's environment. I have to say, if played 'blindly', Assassin's creed is a very relaxing, leisureable experience.
