A gem hidden there... somewhere...

Well - not as great as I thought. Don´t get me wrong - it´s a cool game! But at this price-tag, it should be more than "cool". Story, graphics, music etc., is all fine by me. I love the setting, and it´s neatly crafted. There are some major flaws though, which makes it difficult for me to play more than just small bits at a time. 1. The interface/controls are very messy. The camera (very "upwards") and crew-control is just not good. I understand that it´s a party-game with turn-based system - but controlling the camera with WASD and the crew with the mouse is simple put: totally opposite from what we´re used to today. It´s messy! 2. The skills system is kind of nice with simple points. Though the skills themselves doesn´t make any sense at all. Some skills are general to extreme - and some are split up in absurdity. It feels like the skill system is in beta-test stage, and that´s not a good thing. 3. The inventor. Oh boy... It´s so messy that I just simply shoot anything instead of using items. Who has time to figure out what all those tiny icons mean anyway? Too much, too cluttery and, again, very messy. I haven´t even come close to trading since everything has to be pooled around and - well, it gets pretty frustrating after a while. Those three major complaints make the game difficult to enjoy. And I SOO much want to enjoy this game! It´s just so sad that the developers has such a gem hidden in there - but controls, inventory and skills makes it so damn hard to find. Well... maybe Wasteland 3 is better, but frankly - it will be tough for me to pay for that...

Great post-apocaliptic RPG

Having completed the game twice, I find Wasteland 2 a great game, comparable to Fallout 2. The second playthrough was much more enjoyable. I met characters and visited places that I did not properly encountered while playing for the first time, and was able to follow a rather different plot lines. It is a challenging game; at times I had to spend some time "grinding" to get a level up so that I can comfortably progress. Tactical combat is good, weapon selection, perks and abilities are interesting. Very good dialogs and characters that you start to care about. All in wall, it is a great game, perhaps deserving the third playthrough :)

Linux version runs fine

Great post apocalyptic survival story. I was not a fan of the man eating plant section, but the rest is pretty good. I see reports of the Linux version not being Linux compatible. Not sure what is going on with the persons machine, but if it helps, I just booted up the Linux version on Manjaro stable and it works great!

Can't get into it

I was very excited for release well before this game came out. I never beta tested or anything but I eventually got around to getting the game no Steam and went through the standard process of creating elaborate back stories for my 4 characters. And then... you kind of just walk around. The overworld is just a pointer on a piece of paper with random encounters and a couple oases and then you get into the map. Combat starts and there's practically no cover at all so you just shove 3 people behind one car and another guy behind a box 4 tiles away. I'm not claiming to be a tactical genius of any sort but compared to similar games like XCom I feel as though this game had little strategy in battle. You couldn't outrange anyone or ambush them since they could run up to any place you hid behind since everything is so close. There also aren't any abilities so there isn't much team building in battle other than just making sure your character's guns don't all use the same ammo. But then again if you want non-combat skills then your characters can't even shoot guns practically so you're just stuck with low level skillpoints everywhere or you just miss out on half of everything you come by (which you will fail those checks half of those times anyways because your skills are too low). In short, I just can't stay interested. I've tried many times and I get bored in 20 minutes because every aspect of the game is just slow.

Uninspired game

This RPG is not a true sequel to a masterpiece. It plays quite average and the lack of true inspiration is blatant all across the range. Average fights, averaga characters aside a couple. Inventory is messy, combat system is not so interesting and so enemies. Skills progression is not very exciting and many skills seems quite useless from the beginnig while others are not clear what they do or interact: Bad Ass, Strong Ass, etc... The main gripe is that everything looks a bit old and already seen. Few interesting novelites and something that will keep you really fascinated.
