Take control of one of the most technologically advanced armies in the Imperium - The Adeptus Mechanicus. As Magos Dominus Faustinius, you’ll lead the expedition on the newly rediscovered Necron planet of Silva Tenebris. Customize your team, manage resources, discover long-forgotten tech, and control your Tech-Priests’ every move.

Your every decision will shape the missions ahead and ultimately decide the fate of the troops under your command in over 50 hand-crafted missions. Choose your path carefully - the Imperium depends on it.

Augment

Flesh is weak! Upgrade your Tech-Priests with weapons, support items, Servo-Skulls and other mechanical augments as you assemble your cohort. Customize your team’s disciplines, choosing from multiple character classes to create a squad for every playstyle.

Unique Tactical Combat

Engage in immersively strategic combat that will test your mettle under the extreme pressure of the xenos ambush. Access your most powerful weapons and abilities by using Cognition Points and advance on your enemy without pause. Fear not, the Omnissiah favours the brave.

The Library of Immersion

A compelling story written by Black Library author, Ben Counter, specifically crafted to fit the unique personality of the Adeptus Mechanicus faction, with each character having their own personalities and agendas. Feel the tension and admire the devotion with unique visual effects and breathtaking audio.

Difficult Decisions

Make tough decisions that will forge the future from your Ark Mechanicus, The Caestus Metalican, and send you towards alternate endings for a truly unique playthrough. Be warned, however, the more you explore each tomb, the greater the rewards but also greater the threat.

Amazing Atmosphere / Bad Difficulty

The game has the best soundtrack I've ever heard. The characters are intense and compelling, the scenario is interesting, and the gameplay is fun to start with. I highly recommend the game for the atmosphere and story. The gameplay however gets old because it is shallow. Because it is shallow, mission outcomes depend almost entirely on the strength of your characters compared to the enemy'. Further, as an xcom-like game, the devs have to make wild guesses about how strong your squad will be. The devs tried to compensate for this by letting the players create custom difficulty settings, requiring them to guess what settings will lead to a good experience or not. As a result, every mission is a steamroll, either for you or for the enemy (especially for the heretek DLC). The easy missions get so mindless that you set the enemies to have 300% hp, and for there to be 3x as many of them, and the missions are still easy to the point of distraction. Then you hit a mission that is utterly impossible at that setting, literally 10x as harsh as the typical ones where you die in 2 rounds because every enemy does half your health per hit. The difficulty curve of the game is so broken that I think I'm actually abandoning my playthrough at 90% awakening. I love the game but its gotten pretty tedious. Maybe I'll play it out. I don't know, its worth it for the story. That said, I highly recommend the game for the atmosphere and story.

Not worth it

This is like a nicely wrapped chocolate box with cheap, stuck together sweets (judging by the smell -- second hand ones) inside of it, some with the wrapper infused into them. The design of the menus, apart from the fact that you can't skip the cutscenes (you have to click every time someone says something, or you have to press ESC, skip the whole thing, miss important info and reload the auto-save), is very... Space Hulk. Nothing special, but in line with the atmosphere. Sound design is okay (better than most other 40k games, except DoW1 and 2), voices are nicely minced, music is "limited", as in it hits the climax and then goes silent for ages. Which means that after 2nd turn you spend the rest of the fight listening to ambient noise. Graphics -- nothing special, yet it melts the PC down. The whole game isn't properly programmed, eg.:if your wiresless headphones disconnect, and you reconnect them again -- the game will still use speakers. Decade old games don't have this. Ironic, that a game about cyborg IT priests was programmed by an intern working "for free Lunch" on an iPad (at best). Tactics are non-existant: I quit when I had to spend "Cognition Points" to hit someone in melee with an axe. Either priests have brain damage or a strange disorder, where they have to read a book before attacking someone. So much for the UBERMENSCH of the far future. This isn't even the depth of the nuXcom, and if we're talking TB strategies of the old, then this is a snotling trying to fight the pre-heresy God-Emperor. There is nothing here: you can't ambush, can't overwatch, can't do antyhing but shoot and move. This is a cashgrab that is based on the license. Much like the overpriced miniatures by GW, it looks nice on the outside, but on the inside you get nothing but grey plastic. I am beginning to think the five-star reviews were made by people who think that centurion armour is a great addition, and who probably have the complete works of Matt Ward on their shelves.

Weird difficulty, but overall very good.

I just finished the game for the first time, and I really enjoyed it. Graphics, design, systems and interface are good even today, with music and sound being a bit weaker. Tactical challenges are well thought - out, missions are diverse though sometimes a little repetitive. Mini - game pre - mission system is a nice change of pace, though it alllows for serious save scumming. Development of your team is the best part of this game, giving you a lot of options both in skill and equipment you can combo. While canticles, ship upgrades, equipment and most weapons are cool, I found all servitor upgrades to be useless. The combat system, based upon Cognition Point, is awesomely open and it allows for mega turns, just like in Gears Tactics. It feels both overpowered and super fun at the same time. Difficulty is extremely weird in this game: normal was challenging for exactly first 5 missions and then the game became too easy. After bumping it to hard not much has changed. I tried very hard and... still not much has changed. I opened the final mission with only 38% awakening, beat all 3 bosses within 3 turns on very hard and the game was over. You can greatly customize it if you know what you're doing, which you will... the second time through ;-) The areas look almost the same, making them feel repetitive. And while mega turns feel awesome, they also put the game off balance, letting you kill bosses before they get get their first attack off, which definitely was not intended. Overall, I really enjoyed this game and I think I will replay it someday with highly tweaked difficulty, like disabling extra movement from CP. While not perfect, I think it deserves 8/10.

Simple but great

Compelling story (hello, 40k lore), simple mechanics (heh) with entertaining turn-based combat and some RPG elements mixed into it. A lot of in-mission decisions / paths are punishing though, so this might take away enjoyment from some people.

Combined popular mechanics to WH40K game

1) Considering the price, base game with soundtrack is a good purchase. 2) Works well in Linux and Windows 3) Atmosphere is great and nice surprise that voice acting is there people who speak English. 4) about 20-30 hours fun, gets a bit easy and repetitive towards to the end. There are plenty of places where polish is missing with UI, mechanics.
