Discover the grim dark universes of Warhammer where there is only war. From Warhammer 40,000 to Warhammer Fantasy and more - discover it all on GOG Warhammer Franchise page.
Take control of one of the most technologically advanced armies in the Imperium - The Adeptus Mechanicus. As Magos Dominus Faustinius, you’ll lead the expedition on the newly rediscovered Necron planet of Silva Tenebris. Customize your team, manage resources, discover long-forgotten tech, and control your Tech-Priests’ every move.
Your every decision will shape the missions ahead and ultimately decide the fate of the troops under your command in over 50 hand-crafted missions. Choose your path carefully - the Imperium depends on it.
Augment
Flesh is weak! Upgrade your Tech-Priests with weapons, support items, Servo-Skulls and other mechanical augments as you assemble your cohort. Customize your team’s disciplines, choosing from multiple character classes to create a squad for every playstyle.
Unique Tactical Combat
Engage in immersively strategic combat that will test your mettle under the extreme pressure of the xenos ambush. Access your most powerful weapons and abilities by using Cognition Points and advance on your enemy without pause. Fear not, the Omnissiah favours the brave.
The Library of Immersion
A compelling story written by Black Library author, Ben Counter, specifically crafted to fit the unique personality of the Adeptus Mechanicus faction, with each character having their own personalities and agendas. Feel the tension and admire the devotion with unique visual effects and breathtaking audio.
Difficult Decisions
Make tough decisions that will forge the future from your Ark Mechanicus, The Caestus Metalican, and send you towards alternate endings for a truly unique playthrough. Be warned, however, the more you explore each tomb, the greater the rewards but also greater the threat.
Canticles of the Omnissiah
Collect in-game achievements and be rewarded with strong abilities that can be used once per mission to aid you in the heat of battle.
Simply put: I had fun. The game is not terribly difficult but at the same time there is enough variety to the gameplay to keep it interesting even when it gets repetitive. And there are also very detailed difficulty settings that you can change mid-game.
I'm not w40k lore expert but everything seemed authentic.
The game obviously favors visuals and sound but it's good they didn't skimp on technical quality - it's all nicely put together and runs well.
This game is perfect. I have been having fun creating builds and having a good time with the dungeon systems. The fact that it is in the Warhammer universe makes it a perfect introduction to this type of game. I will be continuing the Ohmisiah. I can't recommend it enough.
It's a pretty good game if you like slow turn-based tactics. Plus, it's a WH40k game that gives focus to a faction often overlooked in other WH40k games.
The "cognition gauge" game mechanic may feel a bit weird at first, what with it basically amounting to "you need to collect data during combat in order to be able to use your advanced weapons and abilities or move extra distance", but you get the hang of it quickly, and, somehow, it manages to make sense for this particular faction.
I didn't find the early game to be too easy or too difficult (I played on "Hard" difficulty with permadeath on) - it worked well enough to learn the main game mechanics and not be overwhelmed, while still being pretty challenging.
And learning to exploit the game mechanics is fun. Eventually, you'll learn to optimize your builds and tactics to destroy the enemies before they can retaliate while keeping your cognition gauge filled - which, when you manage to figure out such a build, is quite satisfying - at first. Later on, though, the same thing carries the risk of turning the game into a predictable, monotonous slog, as you start methodically obliterating the enemies without any real risk. In the end, this is what caused me to not finish some of the campaign's questlines and go for the final boss early even though I still had some time on the campaign awakening gauge left. But that could be just personal preference - I tend to quickly get bored when a game becomes too predictable - and becoming predictable is not uncommon for a turn-based tactics game like this, especially as I keep trying to make every move as effective as possible.
Some minor shortcomings:
- Just a minor oversight, but with the campaign consisting of several parallel questlines, some dialogues can become contradictory depending on what missions you did before.
- No option to speed up animations.
The game gets boring quickly due to immense repetitiveness. All the mission deployments are the same with just randomized enemy types and rewards. There are only 5-6 boss missions with slightly more content.
If you are a completionist and want to unlock all rewards, your gameplay will be to 50% save scumming. Don't do it, becausethe game will be a torture.
The only good thing in this game is the audio.
This is another turn based squad game set in Warhammer universe. I have played almost every single such warhammerish game from Chaos gate onwards and this is definitely the most unplayable one. Unplayable to the point if you lead your cursor to the right side of the map screen shall go left or not move at all.
My every campaign on normal level ended two fold:
1. Game deployed my only two characters giving me task to survive for three rounds. After spamming enemies for two rounds it changed my objective to "kill all enemies". My two characters could not fight 6-2 ratio battle and died - mission was labelled as easy. Game over
2. Game tasked me with collecting samples of a Necron destroyer. Necron Destroyer moves two turns for each one of mine, deals massive damage and is supported by other units. Mission was labelled as easy. Game over.
You shall quickly discover that your units need some "cognition points" to do anything including simple melee. Those points can be gained at terminals which will put your characters at risk of crossfire. If you can't gain enough of those points your main characters are only able to do melee attacks of opportunity - to react if enemy is trying to distance for you. If enemy has ability to do melee as well you are dead.
My Gog Galaxy states that average player has played under 10 hours of this game which is enough to experience what I have said above 6-7 times and make an uninstall.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
