Playing the STORY MODE would be a great option for all those people that don't want to deal with hardcore puzzles. You won't miss much of the story but at the same time most of puzzles will be easier, require less conditions to be unlocked and you will deal with much less inventory objects. Some passages have been cut but the big part of the game is still there. If you are among those who gave up because the game felt too difficult this is also a good opportunity to give it a try again. Also you can still try the old school mode again once you have completed the story mode.
In a future not too far away, one Artificial Intelligence has prevailed over all other AIs and their governments. Society has migrated to a permanently integrated reality connected to a single neural network that continuously optimizes people's experiences by processing personal data.
Nathan, an outsider still refusing to comply with the new system, makes a living off the grid as a smuggler of modded hardware and cracked software. Geared with his custom headset, he is among the few that can still switch AVR off and see reality for what truly is.
He shares an apartment in the city with his girlfriend Jay, a talented AVR graffiti writer whose drones have been bit-spraying techno-color all over the augmented space in the city.
Waking up one morning, Nathan discovers that Jay disappeared overnight, but not before leaving a cryptic message on their bathroom mirror.
Having accidentally broken his custom headset, Nathan is now disconnected and determined to find out what happened to Jay, but he soon finds himself tangled up in an unexpected journey involving Jay's hacker group and a guild of AVR technomancers.
Travelling around the world, he'll have to deal with hardware graveyards, digital archeology, tribes of cryptoshamans, and virtual reality debauchery.

This game is full of stupid so called puzzles. You get stuck with twenty random things to complete a task when there is a totally logic way that is ignored by the game. This makes so much pure filler.
And this game is why music producers shouldn't try making video games!
The Atmosphere - Nice up to 15 minutes, then it's undermined by the one dimensional characters, the comedy coming from nowhere, and the monotonity that you have to go back and forth from locations ENDLESSLY.
The Story - Cookie cutter "muh privacy" and "technology bad" message that has been delivered poorly. The text looks like it was written by a 14 year old that's not even native english, characters act nonsensical at MOST times, and the story progression goes from 1 to 11 in the last 3-4 hours (or 45-120 mins in story mode).
The Gameplay - Is utter TRASH!!! You either play story mode and miss out parts of the STORY, and play a crap visual novel with minimal extra player action OR you plunge into retardness with "hardcore" mode, that promises to be a point & click adventure game, but instead becomes "let's try everything out with everything and do a lot of saves"-the game.
The game does stupid little hints, like "the monster likes to eath this 3 thing", however it's barely useful because you need to combine the needed items in an EXACT ORDER.
And not to mention the utter stupidity of some puzzles, like the one with the antennas for example, or basically the whole jungle level.
TLDR; This game is trash! Don't buy it, don't waste time being frustrated by stupid puzzles (or the walkthrough occasionally being wrong or missing keypoints -like the acquision of the robot arm-), and most importantly DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE LOW STANDARD REVIEWERS BELOW (or above, idk where will gog put this)!!!
This game only looks good from the distance.
the pros:
+ beautifully drawn 16-bit-ish pixel-art that catches well the futuristic neon-light-metropolis-ambiance, typical for the genre.
+ great bit pop retro-soundtrack with with an 8-bit-ish tone.
+ solid, classic 3rd person point&click experience.
+ contains all ingredients you would expect in the cyberpunkt genre.
+ fair price
the cons:
- no voice-acting. maybe i am spoiled, but for me good voice-acting can really boost a game.
- the story feels a little bit too steroypical and slightly dull with not much substance.
- the character-development seems rather shallow.
- the font for text is too small. in combination with the lack of voice-acting this makes it nearly impossible playing the game together with my partner on the big screen, while sitting on the sofa in the living-room.
all in all a solid cyberpunk-game for fans of the genre. but it can't compete with adventure games like technobabylon or blade runner. not by far...
Loved the atmosphere and the music. Pixel art was a bit uneven, but totally acceptable. The story is good, albeit not particularly original. The duration of the game is also very satisfying, one never feels that it was rushed to market.
Unfortunately, the puzzle design is horrendous. Even when in-game hints are given, they can be given at random times rendering them useless. The dialogue is also extremely badly written making the characters annoying and poseur-ish.
So, even though I mostly enjoyed the game (I got it for free here, so I can't complain), I cannot recommend it. If GOG gives it away again at some point, then it might be worth a look.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
