Or, ignore this choice and rain destruction upon your foes.
But your journey will take determination. Each adversary has unique bullet patterns that you must dodge as well (don't worry, it's not that hard).

It's hard to express just how much I adore Undertale without spoiling anything significant, but that's what I love about it. It tells its story in such a dynamic way, and with such a great understanding of the RPG player's mindset, that it couldn't have been told in any other way. It's a masterfully crafted experience that I won't forget any time soon.

A Masterpiece
For years I always heard people talking about Undertale but never took the time to try it and after completing my first playthough I have to say I was blown away. The graphics may look like an old NES game but the music is one of the best scores I have ever heard in a game/movie, the gameplay is fun even if you are not trying to kill monsters, you get to decide how the story moves forward like in Mass Effect and the Witcher, and the story is top notch. Even at full price this game is totally worth it! Toby Fox and his team did an amazing job and I am so looking forward to Deltarune as well! P.S. The review score on this site deserves to be way higher :)

Multi-layed game story telling
This game has many layers. On the surface of it, there is a lot of light-hearted humour, often playing off well-understood gaming tropes. But it goes quite a bit deeper. The gameplay itself is engaging, but not particularly challenging for players who are experienced gamers. There are tests of player dexterity and puzzle-solving, but the strength of the game is more about the journey than about these challenges. The music is carefully crafted and evocative. Sometimes conjuring a mood of other games, and sometimes conjuring feelings to go with parts of this game's story. In short, play Undertale for the journey. There's some good stuff in there that you might not expect.

Random encounters, fixed save points ...
A console game with fixed save points. And random enemy encounters. And a tiring ever repeating evasion mini-game. All fighting amounts to an agility mini-game in a small square where you have to evade various sequences of enemy missiles. The mini-game is clearly joystick oriented and very awkward with the arrow keys on a PC keyboard. For instance, you have to move a heart icon along a circle inside the square while you are being followed by a squadron of rockets. Moving (fast) along a circle with arrow keys ... just try it. As a consequence, a lot of dying and repeating again and again the same sequence of puzzles from the last save point to arive at the point of the your last fight. The rest of the game are (mostly simple) puzzles and a lot of reading supposedly humorous teletype text.
