Or, ignore this choice and rain destruction upon your foes.
But your journey will take determination. Each adversary has unique bullet patterns that you must dodge as well (don't worry, it's not that hard).

It's hard to express just how much I adore Undertale without spoiling anything significant, but that's what I love about it. It tells its story in such a dynamic way, and with such a great understanding of the RPG player's mindset, that it couldn't have been told in any other way. It's a masterfully crafted experience that I won't forget any time soon.

Not nearly as clever as it thinks it is.
If you want to play this game because you think it's another Mother/Earthbound title, just go play one of those. From this perspective, it's a very poor man's Earthbound. If you're in it for the more edgy aspects, just go play OFF! instead. From the perspective of all the "special" things this game does, it's simply a poor man's OFF!. You may have heard that this game does a lot of special things and that you shouldn't spoil yourself before playing it. To me, if you know that one of the game's keywords is genocide, and you know that no-one has to die, then the game pretty much spoils itself. I have no idea why people think it's a special thing full of surprises. You already know what you're getting into. It has humor, but it often uses its humor to create emotional distance--the precise opposite of the warm humor of Earthbound. It has choices, but they are generally not-choices. You know what you want to do, but it's hidden behind some goofy mechanic you have to figure out. To put it another way, if you do a bad thing in the game, it's not because you chose to do bad, but because you couldn't figure out what the creator wanted you to do. What hidden button the creator wanted you to press. I was suggested this game by a friend, immediately knew I didn't want to play it. I already knew everything about it (again, I can't get over how unique and surprising everyone thinks it is). But another friend bought it for me because I love Earthbound. I gave it a fair shot for his sake, but only to be nice. Eventually it became unbearable, so I stopped. I love Earthbound. I love Persona. I love stories and story-driven games more than I can convey. But I fear that this game is going to pull the industry in the wrong direction: banal tales hidden underneath silly mechanics easily perceived as clever, Tumblr humor, and gameplay that ranges from tearfully boring to obnoxiously frustrating. I hope the big dysfunctional family that is our gaming community moves on from it soon.

Worst Fanbase ever
The game is already bland for being a generic JRPG, but with the crazy fanbase that attaches its self to the game, it is best to avoid this crap entirely.
