Did not age well at all
This game feels empty even for it being a 1996 release on the N64 and a 1997 release on PC. The frustrating platforming, limited saves, and having to search all over the levels over and over again for keys kills the fun here. The keys are literally hidden to make you play for 12 hours even with a walkthrough before you get the keys for a level, and there is hardly any backstory to the game; heck, even its sequel did a far better job with that then this. Honestly, I'd rather play Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, or Quake II if it were 1997, and I find out about this game's existence. Honestly, I'd recommend skipping this one and playing the second one if you really must play a Turok game, or play Doom, Duke 3D, or the Quake games if you want a nostalgic first person shooter without the sheer frustrations you have to deal with in the Turok games. My two cents.

OK 10 characters
Only got it because I played it a lot on n64 as a child and it was on sale. It doesn't have the excessive fog and terrible controls of the n64 version. I was quite surprised how fast you move, I didn't remember it being a fast game but looking at videos on youtube it seems even the n64 version was fairly fast movement wise. I am going to play this in short bursts, maybe a level at a time or even just to the next save point each session, it gets quite tedious. The previously mentioned save point system is annoying, wish they had added a quicksave. The enemies respawn, sometimes right in front of you, at least they make it obvious with a beam if light and they don't instantly materialise giving you time to react. There is a platforming which I despise in first person games especially ones where you can't see your feet but it is just about bearable for me here. You don't have any momentum or ice skaty feeling controls like say half life, if you let go of w you stop even in mid air, makes the platforming less annoying.

Holds up well but the price is too high
Just finished the game and I have to say, it surprisingly held up well. It really is an action adventure game: think of it as a great mix between fast PC-style shooting and console-inspired level design. Not only the gunplay is great but you really have to explore the levels in order to collect everything. Each of the maps are memorable and well-designed and it must have taken lot of work to pull this off on the N64. Regardless of the above, the asking price is too high, even for a high-quality remaster. Turok is awesome, no doubt, but try to grab it once it goes on a sale.

Turok: Human Hunter
When I was a kid I was disappointed that dinosaurs are not main enemies. Now I find fighting humans more fun. Still a good game after all those years.
