Experience a fairytale world of breathtaking sceneries and face a myriad of physics-based puzzles, wonderful contraptions, dangerous foes and enchanting creatures.
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is a platforming game of action, puzzles and adventure, and the sequel to the award winning Trine and Trine 2. Reunite with the familiar heroes - Pontius the Knight, Amadeus the Wizard and Zoya the Thief in an all-new adventure, now for the first time in full 3D!
Playable in single-player or in co-up with up to three players, both locally or online.
The Story
Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief have slowly come to the conclusion that having their lives commandeered by a powerful magical artifact is not a desirable state of existence on a permanent basis.
The heroes try to return their extraordinary gifts to the Artifact called Trine, and so they meddle with powers beyond their understanding: Trine shatters and a heartless ancient sorcerer escapes. With only a broken artifact to guide them, the heroes must try and repair the damage they've caused... or the damage that might yet be done.
Online and Local Co-op - Up to three players can play online and local co-up. Any mix is possible (for example 2 local, 1 online) and you can switch from singleplayer to multiplayer and vice versa. Play with your friends and explore the secrets together!
The Lost Pages - The ultimate test to your skills, the Lost Pages feature the most incredible contraptions, character-driven design, and ridiculous puzzles. Are you skilled enough to unlock all the Lost Pages?
Soundtrack - Award-winning composer Ari Pulkkinen returns for an amazing fantasy soundtrack!
Fantastic Fantasy - Adventure through breathtakingly beautiful landscapes in an enchanting fairytale world, and for the first time ever explore the Trine world in a full 3D setting, allowing you to go check out all the nooks and crannies that have been so alluring in the past.
Full Language Support for English, French, German, and Spanish - The game features full language support for English, French, German, and Spanish (voice + subtitles on/off), and an additional number of languages for subtitles.
Pro: Trine 3 is a nice game, that came with a funny story, great artwork, loveley music and talented voiceactors (at least in german).
Con: The new 3D setting can be irritating sometimes. In some situations i had troubles to hit enemy/platforms, because i had problems to aim than in the Z axis. Also the main story is very short, you have to master some sidequests to advance in the few main levels and the game ends with an cliffhanger. Trine: Artifacts of Power - Episode 1 would be a more fitting name for the game.
I hope they will release a Episode 2. Trine 3 is a good game, it simply dimeshes between the brilliance of Trine 1 and 2.
I don't understand all the critics about this game. Maybe it's not that long, but it kind of has exactly the same feeling as the other 2 games. Even though you can move in 360 degrees. That's just a nice feature to have something different. I got a positive surprise when I played it because I was reading all the comments in here before playing the game But I totally disagree with the negative comments.
The game itself plays pretty well but is very simplified. No skills, no new abilities throughout the game, auto-heal and no difficulty options means the game is extremely easy to the point that it might as well have been just a sightseeing tour. The game's looks and the story are probably the only things that will make you want to continue playing. And this is where the disappointment comes in...
After 8 levels and some very minor side missions, the game abruptly ends just as the story is finally starting to get interesting. There are some pretty major revelations made in the game and everything seems to be going well. The story is rather intriguing and then you come to what appears to be the end of Act 1... and it just ends. There is nothing more. Thanks for playing.
The fact that Trine 4 completely ignores the events of this game is disappointing too. I understand that they ran out of funds during development but finishing this story arc with at least a comic or something would have been a nice gesture. If you plan on playing through the entire series I recommend skipping this one as it's a dead end. A beautiful looking one for sure, but still a dead end.
Also, the move to 3D isn't the apocalypse some reviews make it out to be. It will take you 2-3 levels to adjust and it's smooth sailing then. True, 3 levels is almost half of the game but I didn't have any issues with controls or anything after playing for a while.
Giving this one a 6/10 and I'm being very generous.
Trine 3 is not as good as its predecessor, but it still offers the fun and engaging puzzles that you have come to expect. Although a lot of mechanics have been toned back (skills, for example) and the story is relatively short, it could be worthwhile if picked up at a steep discount.
I found that I really like the new 3D environment and movement, although it is a bit clunky sometimes.
Sadly they downgraded the heroes compared to the earlier games, but at least gave Amadeus the ability to fight competently with his boxes and other environemntal objects.
The story itself though. Definitely unfinished.
There are 3 introductionary levels. And 4 Main Levels. And one boss fight. The game stops when the adventure barely starts.
Even the humorous side stories are unfinished.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
