The Story
Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief have slowly come to the conclusion that having their lives commandeered by a powerful magical artifact is not a desirable state of existence on a permanent basis.
The heroes try to return their extraordinary gifts to the Artifact called Trine, and so they meddle with powers beyond their understanding: Trine shatters and a heartless ancient sorcerer escapes. With only a broken artifact to guide them, the heroes must try and repair the damage they've caused... or the damage that might yet be done.

Full Language Support for English, French, German, and Spanish - The game features full language support for English, French, German, and Spanish (voice + subtitles on/off), and an additional number of languages for subtitles.
The problem with Trine 3 is not the fact that it is short, but that it ends all of a sudden at the very beginning of the journey. It would have been fine, had they made a shorter story, or at least hinted a sequel at the ending. It is obvious that for some reason or another they had just abandoned the project in the middle. I wish it was truly a shareware, because I had a lot of fun playing it while it lasted. Either way, chances for another Trine are very slim, so I recommend buying it. Just do not expect an ending.
Even thou they are saying this is a very short game, I am completely amazed with its awesome gameplay experience. I do believe that more green color cold have brought a better, and most beautiful visual experience, however the 3D experience is far beyond my expectations, and it is the most enjoyable game of the series so far!. IMHO.
I have completed all three Trines. The third is the weakest by far, but I would not call it a bad game. The move to 3D environment... after long wondering and finishing the game, I can say it is for good of the game. It is a benefit over previous chapters - but it takes good portion of story to get used to. The game is still as beautiful as Trine series should be and it is worth possibly just for that.
The biggest strength of the game are again puzzles. Again each obstacle can have multiple solutions, and while the task is challenging as it should be - you mostly know right away what or how to do it. The game is fluent.
Yet the game has big flaws. I will go straight into it the game lost the RPG element of previous titles (more to that later) and it is short. Very short. The developers attempted to prolong the gameplay by minigames (or minichapters if you wish), which some are nice, but especialy Pontius fighting chapters are pain in the ass. But you cannot skip those, because the shards/crystals/points must be collected in quite high numbers to open next story chapter. As we collected them in previous two titles to customise skills of our heroes, now we just hoard them to unlock next chapter. You have to get almost every point from story lines, and all minichapters to unlock next story one.
When I had to re run three story lines and 4 minichapters to open final chapter I almost deleted the game. I could forgive them the lost RPG element, I could forgive them the length. But this ruined my experience from the game.
And it is shame as the story chapters are very, very enjoyable and I liked them all.
SPOILER: And the story does not even end there... the artefact is not completed, villain is not destroyed. It ends in the middle of story. END OF SPOILER
Once again a rush to publish ruined excellent game. However, if you can overcome the cons, it is worth to have... especialy if you love tghe serie.
Other than some occasional depth perception problems, an abrupt ending, lack of upgrades, and being a bit short if you ignore the optional levels, etc. Trine 3 is still a mostly good Trine game.
This third opus really marks a big step forward for the Trine series. The world is as beautiful as ever and the depth effect made possible by the third dimension really allows for some stunning scenes.
But.
There is still room for improvement. The RPG dimension of the series is completely gone, and some aspects of the physics of the game are not completely mature, such as cubes that move in an uncontroled manner, or perspective problems.
None of those issues are really bad, but they do hint that the game may have been released while it was still a little too young.
Lastly, there real problem here is... four hours ? This gives the impression that the game has been released just to test new gameplay mechanics, see how the public reacts to the 3rd dimension, and only after that, maybe release the real game.
I sure hope they do, having fixed the issues I mentionned above. If so, that'll be a well deserved 5/5, but for now, this is somewhat underwhelming.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
