Hidden Gem

A surprisingly incredible game. Bought on a whim since it was on sale and ended up putting a massive amount of hours to completion. The story is far deeper than I expected for a dungeon crawler and many of the fights can be quite challenging. The atmosphere is dark and fits the overall feel you get as you ascend the levels and there is a lot of freedom in how you want to build your party. My only real nit pick is that builds are pretty simple and the skill upgrades are one or the other so you can't create anything outside the box to make things more interesting after doing the same build for a long time. The gear system rarity and tier also was atad incoherent for example I had a relic tier 2 that was beating out relic tier 5's by the last level. Aside from those two points I recommend this game 100% and if a sequel is done, since the ending leaves that possiblity, I would purchase that in a heartbeat or support a kickstarter for it. p.s the ending might hit you in the feels

Great game - just plain fun.

I don't usually leave reviews but on this one I thought I should. It is a fairly straight-forward, hack n' slash, semi-RPG. It's fairly linear and the map interface is very helpful. The combat system is a little different but I found it to be entertaining and enjoyable. I am surprised that someone mentioned that the game was buggy for them. It crashed on me literally one time in the 80+ hours I played. All that said, the game is quite fun and IMHO very much worth the price of admission.

A true hidden gem

OUTRAGEOUS! This game has no business being so good for that price! The meat of the gameplay are battles, which can be surprisingly challenging even on normal and require a fair bit of micromanaging most of the time. While it might scare of some gamers not used to RPGs having challenging tactical combat, it is a godsend for the few of us that can appreciate it. There is no pre-buffing, no broken builds from youtube, no "save me" consumables. There is only the arena, the enemies, and your skill and creative use of everything at your disposal, anything it takes to win. "But WAIT! There is more!" (c) It's not only combat, another major aspect of the gameplay is exploring the giant Tower. Sidequests, treasure, hidden passages placed on masterfully designed levels all provide a better adventuring experience than some titles with a much broader budgets, scopes and giant world maps. Not only that but the writing and story of ToT puts to shame some full blown crpgs as well. Not all secrets are guaranteed to be unravel though. With each journal, note or random tidbit, another mystery is chipped away for a prying player. I didn't even expect party banter to be a part of what I suspected to be a simple hack and slash dungeon crawl, but not only it's there, it's actually quite good. And this I think is the cornerstone of why this game is so surprisingly good. Yes, it is not set to be a new milestone in RPG genre, it mostly re-iterates on ideas and mechanics already tried in other games. But it's the craftsmanship, attention to details, love for what makes rpgs good, and dedication to make all aspects of the game to be as polished as possible for the budget, that makes the game so fun.

What a great story

Very interesting story, reminds me of Planescape: Torment a lot! It is a bit rough around the edges, a few grammar errors here and there, also I'm not a fan of the Diablo-like item collecting mechanics, but the story, the way the characters reflect to some of their past actions, the dialogues... Great work devs, this is how you write an rpg! I probably won't replay it in the near future, but totally worth the £20 it is now (26/08/2020)! Very well done!

Very glad I picked this one up

Like others have said, this is a hidden gem. This really is a value purchase and I'm stunned that I never heard of it before it was on sale. It can be played casually, save when you want and has decent re-play value. There are choices to make in the game that carry weight to them, favor of party members can increase or decrease with your choices. Keeping this short, if you like this style of RPG then this is a must have for the price. There are some spelling errors here and there but absolutely nothing annoying, the levels are polished the game itself worked flawlessly (linux for me) and I don't believe it crashed a single time for me. Just get it.
