Toonstruck

This is one of the first games i ever played on PC! At the time, it was on two CDs and the 2nd was a bit scratched so i didn't get to play the ending! And here, after 20 years i found it on GOG! This is a wonderful charming and really fun game!

I played this as a child and it's good to see that it seems to have held up relatively well. It's very polished for its time with multiple well known actors. The comedy largely still holds up and there's a couple sexual jokes that I definitely didn't get as a child. By today's standards, the story's pacing takes a bit of a dip in the second half and the iconic spooky clown used in most of the art isn't actually that important a character. I would have liked to have seen where they went with this but my understanding is that they gave this a hollywood blockbuster level budget which it definitely wasn't going to make back in the time it was released.

Let's find out Who Framed Roger the Rabbit. Wait, wrong review! But the premise is similar. The game mixes digitized real actor with cartoony, crazy world and characters. The game still looks great for its age, has wacky, memorable characters, interesting puzzles (sometimes requiring moon logic and trying everything on everything) and a humor which could be a bit hit or miss but ultimately enjoyable (unless you're a part of overly sensitive and extremely easy to offend "modern audience"). If you liked such classic point & click games like Monkey Island or The Day of the Tentacle, definitely try out Toonstruck.
