Theme Hospital

Wow, I remember getting this game as a birthday present from my highschool friends. I spent sooooo much time with it. The only thing I did not like is that as it gets more challenging also it gets more repetitive. But its sense of humor is still unsurpassed for any sim (IMHO). The funny faces of doctors, the things you see they do to patients, poisoning epidemic with everybody vomiting around hospital so I have to hire double amount of janitors... Yeah... I had really good time with this game :)

One of my first games (after Earth 2140) that I actually bought. And only because they didn't have Tomb Rider :) Never regreted it, was - and is - very fun, most conditions are very uniqe and even simple ones that just reqire a drink can be reserached and are described in a funny way. There was a new game influenced by it that sucked, but I forgot the game, and also worth of noting is a free open source version of Theme Hospital by the name of CorsixTH (in beta phase, but check it out on youtube for example, I think it is downloadable too) http://code.google.com/p/corsix-th/

I actually found it hard to believe at first but this game works perfectly on windows 7 and never crashes. I always tried to find a way to play this classic from my childhood but never managed to. Now here is your chance if you are in the same situation. For this price i would advice anyone to buy it.

Every gamers favourite childhood game is this. One of the best classics Sim/Managing games out there with out a doubt. one of Bullfrogs finest. The game starts with a game board and each space on the game board is a level. Each level Puts you in a empty building and they all come in shapes and sizes. Its your job to build the best hospital you can out of these buildings. Each level gives you some goals you have to get right like you must end up with this much in your bank account by the end of the level. every level also comes with it joke illnesses like head inflated and tasks like cure these patients in this amount of time or else the reaper might come in to the hospital. The staff you hire are all jokes too especially the one liner receptionists. This game was the reason why I fell in love with sim/managing Games. So if you never played it buy it....... Its a steal at this price on GOG

(Note: This was my first time with Theme Hospital, and I am a simulation/management game newbie) I really enjoyed my time with Theme Hospital! The challenge of managing my hospitals' facilities, finances and staff was a lot of fun, as the game provided just the right level of difficulty. Each level felt fresh as it either added new facilities to play with, introduced new gameplay mechanics or just put me in interesting scenarios. I failed a few levels, but I never felt frustrated and knew exactly what area I needed to improve in to succeed the second time around. The game's aesthetic and overall tone also made it very easy-to-digest and enjoyable. Theme Hospital overall just felt like a very polished and 'complete' game with a clear sense of direction. However, I decided to give up on Theme Hospital around three-quarters of the way in due to it becoming quite tedious. Once I had gotten a grip on all of the game's mechanics around halfway through, I was able to make pretty banging hospitals that ran without much input on my part. Levels in Theme Hospital end when you reach specified goals, such as a certain amount of income and reputation. In cases where you've 'figured out' the level, all that's left to do is WAIT, which can be excruciatingly boring due to the lack of a fast-forward button. As an example, my hospital in one of the last levels was apparently running perfectly, and all that was left to do was gaining more income. I decided to increase the prices of my services (as was suggested) to 110% - 120%, but I received very little feedback about whether that was effective or not; besides, it didn't make that much of an impact on my income rate. At that point, I practically had the game play itself for an hour until my hospital reached the set goal. I am quite a beginner when it comes to management games, so take this criticism with a grain of salt. Still, I recommend the game and wish it got a new and improved sequel.
