The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY Edition

This is my the most favorite tes game right now and it is probably the last game where lore of the series was any good. It maybe lack of good AI to make a world more alive comparing oblivion and skyrim but the game and story has the best climate by far. I recommend to download free openmw for this. It is fanmade overlay engine which has 1000x better performance and tons of qol's, and promising tools for future mods.

To this day, Morrowind stands at the top of the heap. Imagine a single player experience, with the enormous scope of an MMORPG. While its prequels were just as expansive and lore heavy, but they weren't accessible and required you to memorize an esoteric control system. Morrowind changed all that, taking a cue from modern FPS titles of the early 00s. In Morrowind you are...whoever you wish to be. Don't wanna be the chosen one? Don't be! Want to become powerful and go kill a god? Do that! Want to be a phantom burglar Arsène Lupin would be jealous of? Be that! There's no limits. You don't even need to choose a predetermined class. Make your own if you want. The world you find yourself in is vast, even more so thanks to the included DLC, which adds a new continent and a floating city state. Despite it's age, Morrowind's world somehow feels more alive than what came after. Its a bit rough around the edges, but a few mods can fix that right up. Speaking of mods. You also get a construction kit that allows you to make your own content, if you so feel the urge.

This really is one of those games. It's been out for 20 years and I can still come back to this at any time and create a fresh character and approach the world in a different way. A classic and worth playing blind, no walk through, just explore. By the time you make it to the make it to the Dwemer Puzzle Box, you'll be hooked. No serious Elder Scrolls player should miss this game. The best in the series, and I'm not kidding.

Morrowind is simply the most progressive rpg I've ever played, detailed, complex, very rich and rewarding on every step. With possibility to shape your character in any way you like there are simply no limits. Might take time, but this game is for life. Step by step you live trough Morrowind and uncover it's story and secrets, fulfill quests and prophecies and with endless moding possibilities the fun is neverending. Some people say that morrowind is not even an rpg game. I don't know if it is an rpg or not but I know it is the best game I have played and I started playing games 35 years ago. So what makes it the best game? Not graphic (though with modern graphic mods it looks great) but the gameplay. You could play the game for hours and just scratch the surface and the modding community is overwhelming. Last year more than 1000 mods were released for this game (yeah, sure, some were tiny). There is new content done like Morrowind rebirth or Tamriel rebuilt. Forget about graphics and try this game and you'll see the complexity of the world.
