The Setting
For hundreds of years, people have lived in the safety of underground settlements and villages – where the only route to the surface is “Tangledeep,” a mysterious and ever-changing labyrinth. With memories of the surface world long forgotten, you set out for the labyrinth to discover what lies above. With each floor – full of magical beasts, ancient automatons, bizarre environments and hybrid biomes – the mystery grows ever deeper…
  • Experience finely-tuned, procedurally-generated and handcrafted gameplay as you fight challenging monsters, complete quests, and collect rare items.

I went into Tangledeep expecting to enjoy it and it didn't disappoint.  The game looks and sounds great, the gameplay mechanics aren't too difficult to learn, you can hang out in lower levels to grind a bit if need be, and the myriad of optional modifiers means you can tailor the difficulty to your liking.  If you're looking for a roguelike dungeon crawler to keep you entertained and possibly challenged depending on your settings, Tangledeep should have you covered.

Not fun, too repetitive

After playing an hour, I didn't find anything that could make me return to the game. It is extremely boring, doesn't have enough depth to catch my attention. I created Edge Thane character and gameplay consisted of constantly pressing forward arrow on gamepad to kill an enemy. Sometimes I had to press Y and select health potion. I made it to level 5 of dungeon and just dropped. I didn't like in-game texts, as for me they are too childish for rogue-like game (but what a schoolboy will calculate all that RPG stats?) Let's make friends with wild beasts? Serious? Stats itself don't play major role, at least I didn't see much influence during my playthrough. Just maximize Strength/Guile and that is it. Maybe I am missing something, but after Wizardry 8, Baldur's Gate, ADOM and other real RPGs, Tangledeep is really boring.

Play Tales of Maj Eyal instead

This is hardly a roguelike, just some tile based dungeon crawler with perma death. Very lacking in mechanics/depth/content. Not worth half of the price tag. Decent pixel graphics and thats about it.
