You are an ambitious marketing director in the Syndicate, hand-picked to lead a team of cyborg mercenaries. You work in the problem-solving department and you are damn good at "taking care" of problems. Some might say that violence is not the answer but you know better. There here are hardly any problems that you can't solve with a well-placed bullet. Collateral damage in the local population and infrastructure during the “negotiations” is, as always, acceptable. After all, what would you expect form the dystopian futuristic world run by mega-corporations?
Syndicate is Bullfrog’s masterpiece of a game in which you aren’t saving the world or protecting innocents. You just make sure that your employers get what they want. At your disposal are four cyborg agents, an impressive arsenal of weapons and gadgets, and a massive selection of cybernetic upgrades. You are free to unleash this power on a highly interactive map where you can blow up buildings, steal cars, light trees on fire, or just shoot stuff. Produced by Peter Molyneux himself, Syndicate is the essence of cyberpunk and, with its great music, stylized visuals, and mind-blowing atmosphere, it has earned its place among the best games of all time. Extensive reviewing isn't really needed, since everyone knows what they're getting here. Just a couple of things to point out - this seems to be missing the 'American Revolt' expansion, which will be a let-down for the hardcore fans. Also, while most of the game has aged well, one thing really irks me - your team say the same phrase every time you click the mouse. Every freakin' time. You'll be gnashing your teeth and cringing within 5 minutes. Turn the sound off and your sanity will return and there's much enjoyment to be had - moreso than in the sequel, which looks good at first glance but is ultimately let down by bizarrely incompetent design decisions.
The graphic on this game have aged well. It was fun when I first played and it remains pretty cool. There is very little character development, that's probably my primary critique. You cannot personalize the agents apart from weapons, gender, and upgrades. The missions are mainly about strategy, especially stealth and speed. A pretty neat experience.

Only gripe is you need to experiment with the timecycles of the DOSbox.
I played it when it came out, on a 486 Dos/Win3.11 machine and can say it plays waaay faster nowadays through the emulator.
Countless hours spent on this one back in the day. Getting into level 40+ gets ridiculously hard (in typical Bullfrog fashion) with level 50 making me pull my hair out. All in all, a game that helps truly define what PC gaming was all about during this time frame.
When it was published, i spent a lot of time with that great game and i think everyone who gave that title 4 to 5 stars is right. If you like old strategy/action-titles, you will love that one.
What i can't understand is why people write reviews about the EULA of that game BEFORE it is released! It is now thu the 19th and the game is still marked as "comming soon...". How do that reviewers know about the EULA of the GoG-version? So thats not fair to give the title an one-star-review without knowing about the GoG-version...
