Not what I hoped for

Like many others, I found the visuals to be nice and the audio good. The UI can best be described as annoying. * The camera was often placed at such an angle, that it was difficult to get to the things I was supposed to interact with. This was espacially true in the cemetary, where paths most often was fully obstructed by foreground elements, making it very difficult to get around. * Interacting with POIs was, mostly, fairly trivial, but at times frustrating when I had to inspect something just to inspect another thing in the zoomed-in screen. Sure, sometimes there were more POIs to interact with, once zoomed in, but that just introduced another annoying aspect, where you'd have to go back and forth between different POIs at different levels of zoom, e.g. getting Danas letter from the automaton in Lenis room. * The "look around" feature tripped me up, more than once. One example was in the musical square, where I had to interact with the piano, but then had to look > 90 deg. to the left, to interact with a completely different contraption there. * No way of skipping cut-scenes like the introspection ones, so if you misclick, you have to see the entire scene again. The puzzles were too easy, and though the story was fine (but at times a little silly), I never got the "participation" feeling, so many other point'n click adventures has given me over the years. I migth just as well have had an "Forward" button.

The Best Syberia Game

Out of all the Syberia games this one looks the best and plays the best and has the most engaging story. The game's puzzles are kind of easy, but I see that as an improvement over some of the more weird and convoluted puzzles of the previous games that weren't particularly fun or interesting and only slowed down the story. The story has everything the previous games had, with the nature and civilization and mysterious creatures, but this time it shifts focus a bit different way with the historical storyline and allusions. The characters are great, voice acting great, and the story also great. Even if you can sometimes safely guess where it's gonna go, it's portrayed in an enjoyable way. Too bad there probably won't be a final sequel or something. And it's interesting to click on everything and explore even the elements that obviously won't help you progress. Also the music in this game is probably the best in the series too. And on the technical level the game works waaay better than the previous one. No weird camera glitching, character models and environments look great and the lighting doesn't get funky. The character movement also doesn't get weird when running into objects either. Much better gameplay experience than Syberia 3

An excellent visual novel

I'm new to the series and had the opportunity to play it by chance. The story immediately hooked me and the puzzles were just enough challenging to keep me interested. Don't go into this game expecting a lot of gameplay features, the entiore game is played just through mouse inputs. However, if like me you are looking for a great story and well written characters, definetly give this one a try!

Gorgeous exploration/adventure game

This is, in my opionion, the best of the Syberia games and one of the best adventures I've ever played. * Environments are gorgeous * They didn't skimp on animations * Puzzles are logical (no, trying to combine x illogical items together). * Puzzles are mostly not difficult with some require a little bit more time which makes the gameplay very enjoyable. * Quality AND Quantity If you liked the first Syberia then almost certainly you are going to enjoy this one.

Best Syberia to date

After the mediocre experience with Syberia 3, I wasn't having any big expectations of 4. It had me pleasantly surprised, though. The new adventure is better in every respect. The first thing I noticed is how much more smoothly the game runs compared to the demo, which had noticeably lower frame rates. Graphically, the game is very impressive - with its use of unique architecture, sun rays, shadows and reflections, in either day or night, it manages to evoke an immersive, almost magical environment that fits perfectly with the narrative. Walking through that mountainside I remember thinking if Skyrim looked this good today, it would easily eat up another 400 hours of my life. :P Using mouse with keyboard worked fine this time around, and I had no need to switch to gamepad. Puzzles were challenging but not too hard, with the exception of one particular map puzzle which got me quite frustrated. But after taking time to think it through logically, I was able to solve it as well. If I had to consult a walkthrough at least once in each of previous games, it was not the case this time. To sum it up: Syberia 4 is a cleverly written visual delight with a heart-wrenching story. The first half of the game progressed kind of slow, but after that I felt compelled to see it through the end. And when the story reached its climax, it raised some hairs on the back of my neck. As was the case with its predecessors, it left me craving for more just as it ended. Very much looking forward to the next adventure of Kate Walker!
