Scratch trhat Descent itch
I needed to scratch that Descent itch (just randomly thought about that game recently after playing it when I was young), this hits the spot. Intro tutorial is usful. Controls feel spot on. Great fun.

Play it again !
Voxels and Vintage, they both go together pretty well, and we have seen a comeback of different remakes or new games based on old masterpieces. If you were disappointed with Miner Wars 2081 Sublevel zero is definitely the game to get even if you are not part of the old Descent or Forsaken fan league. This game is designed well and is as fun as it is addictive and simple. Without getting negative there are a couple of things that could be added to this game to make it even better. -Wandering enemies: All of the enemies are pretty much 'sitting ducks' I mean some of them chase you down after they see you, but they don't actively hunt you. I kinda miss that. So making the arenas more circular ( a closed random loop) and enemies wandering around would clearly pump the adrenaline even more. - Water. Adding water to the caves or even fill some rooms with water which then pours into another room as you open doors while both you and enemies get washed away... - Portals. Portals that can teleport you or enemies from one end of the arena to the other. Watch out though, before using the portal, is the destination safe or not ? - Multiplayer: This game really cries for multiplayer. - A good idea would be to make a second identical game to Sublevel Zero, called Sublevel Zero Trooper Edition with three major changes in gameplay: 1) Player is subjected to gravity. 2)You are a trooper in a spacesuit; you can walk, run or use your jet-pack (that recharges overime) to get to difficult to reach places. 3)The arena spins periodically (every five minutes or so) around a random axis (x, y or z) changing the direction of gravity accordingly.

Extremely fun!
It's basically Descent which was STUPID fun back in the day. It would get a perfect rating if it had multiplayer DM/TDM/COOP... but it doesn't. Still worth a buy, but without solid multiplayer, it's popularity will probably be short-lived. :(
