Already in very good condition, it's fun

(60h played) Gameplay: oh yeah, its funny, bloody combat +You can control up to 4 soldiers in tactical round-based battle with a wide range of weapons, explosives and tools +Spacecraft combat really needs to be practiced, it's challenging, although the automatic functions make it easier. If you don't want space battles, you don't have to, they are often optional. But once you know how, it's fun! +Trading, Grinding, and finding the Legendary Epic Artefacts. +a casual story, many, many missions, sometimes a little repetitive, but somehow every mission makes you addicted. +You can earn money with combat missions, space combat or mining, which can be used for merchants, but you can also find new equipment. +Mining: Would you prefer to play the game in a comfortable and quiet way and become trade-mogul? Then this is your career at Stellar Tactics, I found it a bit lengthy, I prefer the fights with cool weapons Tech: +stable, gfx engine even for older cards, +load times okay (even HD not SSD) +gfx okay, some special fx (configurable), good choice of screen resolutions +good interface, however, i had to search for some buttons, pressi nh 'H' is really helpful, it first confuses me a bit, but then it makes sense, some "Go To" arrows are sometimes right side sometimes left side and sometimes directly locked on targeted enemy ships. Maybe devs think about it. However, once you got it, you got it. +2 patches in two days. Devs work! Hints: . . . . Archimedius VIII has a research facility where you can find short, medium and long close combat missions very easy to enter. This lead to money, new equipment and is very enjoyable. Watch your ammo! Reload after every fight! Pay attention to the instructions on the loading screen or press "H" in the game Ammo is limited to 500 units, no problem for short or medium missions, but during longer missions keep an eye on it and find and take new units. Enjoy and get ready to rumble!

looks promising

The outline of a very emjoyable game is here, but at present it lacks a lot of polish. I still managed to get my money's worth of fun out of it in its current state though. As it is its really more like a tech demo than a game, you go play around with combat, check out some of the randomly created systems and missions. After that the game lost me. Currently everything is randomly generated which sorta makes everything feel the same. It takes too long to upgrade anything, which kinda makes sense from a balance perspective but that means i need to spend tens of hours grinding on randomly generated ground missions/space incursions/events/asteroid fields sp that i can move onto more randomly created content. At this stage there isn't really a reason to keep playing like a story or an overarching mission or a galaxy to conquer or business empire to build. I've rated it partially based on expectations as if this were a fully released game this would not be a good product. That said the developer appears to be working hard on it with lots of updates. If everything is implemented well going forward I'm hopeful that when it is released i may be able to upgrade my rating to five stars.

This is an amazing game

Not “abandonware” as mentioned in an earlier review. The last patch was February 9th 2024. Many things were added over the last few years, and my understanding is the developer is hard at work on the third and final chapter. I see posts on the forums here and other places that support this. This is an amazing game – especially if you consider it is a solo developer. You can see the love and attention to detail in the game. There is so much to do and it’s a lot of fun! I have this on another (unnamed) store where I spent a few hundred hours in this game. I bought it here too to support the developer.

Since my sentiments have already been expressed in previous reviews I will keep this short. 1) It's the only game I know of that you can have a fun experience with a crew in a spaceship AND take that same crew for combat missions on land (or space station etc). 2) The Dev is very responsive and keeps an eye on his forums. (Won my support by purchasing on both GOG and Steam). If I had one wish from a genie in a magic lamp, I'd ask for a 1st person camera while in space to make the experience a little more immersive. Otherwise, this game is really everything I've ever dreamed of.

Here is my feedback. I hope it helps.

extremely clunky and slow gameplay + slow progression other than a mission in the beginning, I can't find any more campaign missions anywhere. The game just dumps me into a giant poorly lit galaxy fully of nightmare-level lag and 10 fps stations with seemingly randomly generated missions that do not hold my interest, and seem to go nowhere important. It's something if I'm playing towards a goal, but I'm sitting here for hours and days grinding to improve my weapons and armor and ship.... for what reason? Towards what end? Towards what goal? very common freezes or crashes Very limited amount of face portraits none of the voices match to any of the portraits Voices are rarely ever used (I understand the game is in dev) It's very frustrating that the player is not able to select the crew that they want to move in combat. It's annoying to have to skip their turn for no reason when I could have used it. Often when skipping a turn or defending, or even turning the character direction, the game will randomly freeze and crash. Autosaves and Quicksaves can't be deleted.... in some on foot areas like stations or planets, the FPS drops down from 60 to 10 for no reason. The lighting is very low in many areas, making it too difficult or impossible to see the nice map and gameplay, as well as FTL travel environment. There are no brightness settings that I could find. I really like this game a lot, but the grind is unbearable. I would love to be able to skip all the grind and go directly towards the interesting parts. The story of the game is kinda cool and interesting, but I don't even know how to get back into it. At this point, I want to keep playing, but I can't really say that I've been playing when I've been grinding and unable to find out where to go or what to do. I honestly don't consider it fun to keep playing the same hollow cardboard cut out copy paste missions over and over again. Maybe I will come back and see if the game is better in several years.
