STAR WARS™: X-Wing Special Edition

I just played some missions. Old reflexes come back to me, amazingly after 10 years not playing again this title ; This is definitively a very good GOG games, it works smoothly on windows 8.1 modern systems, i have the same feelings than in the 1990's. Thank you very muck the team of GOG games for such a truly must have game, probably one of the best of Lucasarts ! But beware it is very hard to play, you need to keep your energies well balanced in a fighter, you need to think on a tactical and a strategic way ! GOG games had the very good idea to include the strategy guide, which is a must have for this game (i had already the paper version). So, 100 % hit from GOG games, no, 200 % for a ridiculous price and DRM free ....

I played the hell out of this game on my 386 Tandy. At the time it couldn't handle Tie Fighter(which I admit is slightly superior) so I was stuck as a part of the rebellion. I was only a kid, I didn't know how amazing this game was. I just knew it was fun as hell. Hey shouldn't all games be this good right? Anyways I look back on this game fondly. Can't wait to recreate my wingmen again like Porkins, Wedge, and a couple of my best friends. Don't forget to make copies of all your pilots and restore them if they die. There is nothing worse than starting back over as cadets.

One of my favorites of all time. They just don't make them like this anymore. My three boys (ages 7,9, and 11) are all in love with it and have been jockeying for computer time with it since I installed it. It still holds up.

Fantastic to see this finally here! I played X-Wing so much it pretty much was my child hood. However, I was about to buy this when I noticed as some have said this is not the collectors edition and so lacks being the 'best' version of this game. Tie Fighter is also the same. Due to this I am still using my own copy on CD and Dos Box. I really DO hope GOG fixes this as there is no real reason to not have the 'best' version of this game on here. I have decided to mention this here along with what others have said in the hope that this issue will get noticed and the game updated. I would then happily pay for a GOG copy! :)
