Roll for initiative, take attacks of opportunity, manage player location and the verticality of the battle field. Delve into long forgotten dungeons to unearth ancient artifacts, but stay watchful of light and darkness: many dangers hide in the dark, but a light can attract monsters. Some enemies have darkvision, some may flee from your torch... Successful adventurers will learn to use it to their advantage.
Fight monsters in squad-level, turn-based, tactical combat. Solasta's dynamic environment offers some interesting tactical options. Bridges can collapse, leaving enemies stranded and vulnerable. Walls and columns can be pushed over - on top of your foes, if you do it right. The world is your playground. - Prepare to Think in Three Dimensions.
The dungeons in Solasta are more than flat game-boards. Climb, jump, or fly around obstacles. Evade or surprise foes from above or below. Push them into chasms or drop things on their heads. Position yourself on high grounds to start the fight with an advantage.
Size also matters. Escape through narrow passages where bigger enemies won't fit and crawl through tunnels to find secret areas. Take advantage of the environment to find cover suited to your own size. Watch out, though - the monsters are also thinking vertically.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister takes the mantle of the “most” Dungeons & Dragons video game out there, if not quite the best. Though the game has a modular adventure setup that strongly suggests there will be more stories, this one falls too flat for its 40- to 50-hour length. However, the combat system is merely a few tweaks short of perfection, so I’d still be interested in sending my heroes on another adventure in the realm of Solasta.

Great D&D game
Very enjoyable turn-based game. Character creation is very in-depth and detailed, in regards to skills, abilities, etc. If you're a D&D fan you will like this game.

A quality rendition of D&D 5e
I played early access - 0.48 or so. At this stage, lots of bugs, but nothing game-breaking. It is a faithful implementation of D&D 5e, to the point where it might be a good way to learn how the rules work. On the downside, and, at least at this point, the tutorial, or at least, the mandatory tutorials I went through, do not explain in full detail the intricacies of how those rules can interact in tabletop play. A player might have to refer to the 5th edition OGL ruleset to gain insight as to why certain things play out the way they do. In terms of the game itself, I liked it quite a bi. The voice acting is decent and I like being able to build an entire party. That does mean that there are no huge dreamtics. It's a game about being a D&D adventurer. The tactical fights are good, with some great use of verticality (fighting on narrow ledges etc) that you don't see in other D&D video games

Very frustrating experience
Between obvious bugs, like expensive magic items or feats straight up not working, intentional design choices like long resting only being possible in pre-established sites (I must have missed the 5e rule that says: "To take a long rest a campfire is necessary. Campfires can't be built by mortal beings, such advanced fires were only created by the gods at the dawn of time and must be found.") and the phoned in, lazy voice acting, this game becomes a frustrating experience. I do not recommend it.
