The year is 2054. Magic has returned to the world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Technology merges with flesh and consciousness. Elves, trolls, orks and dwarves walk among us, while ruthless corporations bleed the world dry. You are a shadowrunner - a mercenary living on the fringes of society, in the shadows of massive corporate arcologies, surviving day-by-day on skill and instinct alone. When the powerful or the desperate need a job done, you get it done... by any means necessary.
In the urban sprawl of the Seattle metroplex, the search for a mysterious killer sets you on a trail that leads from the darkest slums to the city’s most powerful megacorps. You will need to tread carefully, enlist the aid of other runners, and master powerful forces of technology and magic in order to emerge from the shadows of Seattle unscathed.
The unique cyberpunk-meets-fantasy world of Shadowrun has gained a huge cult following since its creation nearly 25 years ago. Now, creator Jordan Weisman returns to the world of Shadowrun, modernizing this classic game setting as a single player, turn-based tactical RPG.
Powerful Content Creation: With the Shadowrun Returns Editor, everyone is empowered to create and share their own stories and campaigns with the Shadowrun community. You can even explore the entire Shadowrun Returns Seattle campaign in the Editor directly - see how it was built and borrow as much as you need to jump-start your own creations! No advanced coding or art skills are required to create content using the SRR Editor.
Gripping Tactical Combat: When you’re running the shadows, every turn matters. Choose your actions wisely - move to better cover, charge into melee, or lob a fireball into a crowd of enemies. With the variety of weapons and spells at your disposal, every turn is filled with meaningful choices. A successful run requires commanding a team of runners with the right balance of combat, tech, and magical abilities.
Skill-Based Character Progression: Choose a starting character archetype and build from there! Street Samurai and Physical Adepts use advanced combat skills to dominate the battlefield, Shamans and Mages summon powerful allies and cast deadly spells, while Riggers and Deckers provide critical technological support, projecting their consciousness directly into drones and computer systems. Shadowrun Returns’ classless skill system allows you to grow your character in any direction you choose. Want to start summoning spirits as an ork Shaman and evolve into a cybered-up weapon specialist? Do it!
Engaging 2D/3D Art Style: Shadowrun Returns mixes dynamic 3D characters and lighting with a vibrant, hand-painted environment. Illustrated character portraits bring every conversation to life. Explore a world filled with detail, from the slums of the Redmond Barrens to the extravagant offices of powerful corporations.

This game was already released a long time ago. It was purchased in 2021. I hesitated because this game is difficult. But I bought it at a sale price, and I think it's a great game. It's hard but fun. I'm playing "Returns" now, but I expect the other two games to be great. If you like strategic RPG, I recommend it. Don't hesitate like me and choose right away!
I don't particularly like turn based games... but this one was unexpected. I really liked it because of a more actiony turn base, to say so. I really liked the story, the outfits and all the customization you can make. An addicting game :)) The only thing that bothered me was that the weapon models did not match up ingame :( .... and it was short.. way too short :(( I fnished the game (on normal) in 17h 41m and still had 21 karma unspend 0_0 :)) Played as a white haired elf that, she was pure mage... gunslinger mage ? :)) I found at the end of the game that you can heal outside of combat :)) and use different weapon modes... and if you get a siderun, take it... I missed one. Even if its linear, not mutch free roam the streets :)) it was fun... probably I will replay it at a higher difficulty :) I got the Shadowrun Trilogy on a giveaway so I would like to thank GOG and Harebrained Schemes / Paradox Interactive for doing this for us all :) and if you find this title or the trilogy on sale or giveaway again... and even full price if you want to support the devs... get it :) It was, for me, an addictive, fun, enjoyable, annoying at times :)) game.
Time to play the other two... probably :))
You will get your basic experience from it. It is linear and this is just fine, this game is short enough to not get tired from it, to stay fun and interesting along the way. Can't say the same about other games of this trilogy tho
This is a Tactical RPG, and by that, I mean that you have a lot of role playing, and the battles are Turn-Based Strategy, not unlike the original Fallout. If you're unfamiliar with the world of Shadowrun, it takes place in a cyberpunk dystopia with humans, elves, dwarves, orks (that's how they spell it), and trolls; not something you see every day. It's oddly prophetic, too; I'm not sure how long the tabletop RPG has been around, but the first game on the SNES came out in the '90s, and had concepts like the Matrix and hacking bank accounts. Here, specifically, the writing is very stylish and pulls you right into its world. The plot is cool to start, even if it does go COMPLETELY off the rails in a way that doesn't really fit the tone.
The skill trees had me like a kid in a candy store; I usually see one focus and want to stick with it, but I wanted melee and guns and chi and decking. I ended up focusing mostly on guns and decking, and that's a pretty solid combination; there are a few missions where you'll need to enter cyberspace, and it's best if you use your own character. If you don't have what you need for a mission, though, you can always hire other shadowrunners, and there's a pretty decent variety. Like any good cyberpunk game, you can also add cybernetic enhancements to your body, though it weakens any magic you might be using, so there's a neat balance to strike there. The tactical combat adds a really cool feel to a lot of the missions, and aside from a few frustrating moments toward the end, they're all very reasonable. If you want to get into the world of Shadowrun, this is a great entry point!
This game isn't bad, it's just average. The setting is the best thing about this game in my opinion - cyberpunk setting mixed with elves, dwarves, orcs, magic and all those classic fantasy tropes. The story is servicable, but nothing groundbreaking.
I didn't like the companion system in this game. During combat you control all characters. However, you can pick skills and change gear only for your main character. Also, you don't have a stable party. You choose companions before every mission. You can't even talk to them. They don't have any personalities, they are there just to fill your empty companion slots.
In addition, I encountered a bug near the end of the game that prevented me to progress. If something like that happens to you, the solution is in the forum.
Overall, it's not a bad game. It's worth checking out. However, if you're a newcomer to the series, I would start with Dragonfall, which is an improved formula of this game.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
