Players who have already taken this trip with Shadowrun Returns and its expansion may find themselves wanting a bit with the gameplay, and newbies will have quite the learning curve to surmount, but if you see the gameplay as an adequate means to experience the more satisfying narrative end, Shadowrun: Hong Kong more than earns your attention.

TRZY KAMPANIE Każda z części (Returns, Dragonfall, Hongkong) zasługuje na dokładnie takie samo uznanie pomimo tego że ostatnia jest nieco "nowocześniejsza". To dobrze bo choć różni je fabuła to trudno z dobrych wybrać najlepszą. OPRAWIĆ W RAMKĘ Oprawa muzyczna i graficzna jest wykonana tak jak trzeba. Choć niejest to majstersztyk to wystarcza na wspaniałą prezentację świata a pomimo prostoty jest spójna i wiarygodna. Ten cyberpunkowy klimat utrzymuje się jeszce długo po przejściu gry. UDANE PRZENIESIENIE Pomimo zachowania rozbudowanego tworzenia postaci - płeć(M/K), rasa(Człowiek/Elf/Krasnolud/Ork/Trol), klasa(samurai/mag/haker/szaman/"droniarz"/adept + własna), wygląd(portret/kolor skóry/fryzura+kolor/broda+kolor/rogi), statystyki(Ciało/Szybkość/Siła/Inteligencja/Wiedza/Charyzma) czy etykiety(korporacyjna/ochroniarska/gangsterska/towarzyska/shadowrunner'ska/uliczna/naukowa) - i wielu mechanik to gra nie przytłacza. Wszystko jest odpowiednio opisane i czytelnie oznaczone (menu, plansze, przeciwnicy, umiejętności). WYMAGANIA: UMIEJĘTNOŚĆ CZYTANIA Niestety esencja papierowej wesji (opowiadanie) tu jest przedstawiona w niekiedy ścianach tekstu do przeczytania i przeklikania urozmaiconego wyborem opcji dialogowych. Brakuje lektorów bo dosłownie wszystkiego musimy się dowiadywac z treści pisanych. Choć mnie to nieodrzuca tak dla wielu może być uciążliwe bo znacząco spowalnia rozgrywkę. TYLKO STANDARD To co również charakteryzuje dobrą sesję RPG a czego nieudało się twórcom zaimplementować to nieograniczony kontakt ze światem. Ponieważ jest to gra komputerowa to nieuświadczymy tu możliwości wykonywania niestandardowych akcji, wszystkie możliwe interakcje są z góry ujawnione a od Nas zależy tylko to w jakiej kolejnosci i co wybierzemy. Co prowadzi do tego że cała kampania jest liniowa i choć fabuła trzyma w napięciu to brak swobody jest odczuwalny. KIEDY DYSKOTEKA UCICHNIE Dla każdego fana Disco Elysium lubiącego walki turowe "w stylu X-COM" jest to pozycja obowiązkowa.

Great cyberpunk RPG

I like Shadowrun setting (mixture of fantasy and cyberpunk elements) in these games. And besides the unique setting they have interesting and well written stories. Hong Kong is no exception. Although Dragonfall is my favourite game among the saga, Hong Kong doesn't fall short. The writing is really good. Fortunately, because the game is heavily text based. There is no voice acting whatsoever. The main focus is on the story and characters and less on the fighting. There are more dialogue options to avoid certain fights (if you invest in the right skills). If you prefer action over reading, you might not enjoy yourself as much. I don't like how they handled Matrix in Hong Kong. However, I was never fan of those sequences in the first place, so I might be biased. Overall, if you enjoyed other games in the series or you're looking for an interesting cyberpunk RPG with elves, trolls and magic, do not skip this one.

WOW, such a dissapointment

Dragonfall is probably one of the best rpgs ever made so comparing Hong Kong to it is maybe not fair but hell the same company made it. Long story short the game mechanics are the same and even improved, the quest design is improved as well but essentially everything is similar and familiar. It sounds good right? If you wanted to play more Shadowrun after Dragonfall, Hong Kong delivers at least in paper. There is one big problem though. The essence of these games are not the gameplay but the story and the writing and exactly here the devs failed miserably. I'm not finished yet but the pacing of the story is terrible, and the plot doesn't seem to be too interesting. The companions were better in Dragonfall as well. On the top of that the game is even more writing and dialogue heavy than the previous iteration and if we add that it has an unintersting story and characters it totally destroys the game. I haven't give up yet, but already skipping dialogues which is a bad sign in a game like this, I don't know if you want to try a Shadowrun game, try Dragonfall because that is a very good game, a future classic of rpgs. With Hong Kong the devs missed the mark though.

Fun, yet not beginner friendly

As someone with a decent amount of tabletop experience, I was used to the idea of Action Points and the concept of action economy. But, Shadowrun: Hong Kong doesn't quite do the best job of explaining how the core systems work, and the lack of a solid tutorial left me needing to scrap my first playthrough, Pros -Fun -Engaging story -Interesting combat -Interesting world Cons -No tutorial -A bit clunky -Poor explanation of stats -The Matrix
