RollerCoaster Tycoon® Deluxe

RCT was one of my favorite games when it was released over a decade ago. It has aged very well - the gameplay is still as fun and enjoyable as ever, and the graphics are still very reasonable. The game includes both expansion packs, and is overall just a blast. The tutorial quickly brings new users up to speed, and it's probably not necessary to read the manual for anything other than the most complex parts of the game (like building custom rollercoasters or putting stuff underground). In particular, the Loopy Landscape scenarios are probably the best ones of the 3 sets - its objectives are more creative and interesting (whereas the previous 2 sets are mostly just "Have X guests by year Y"). The Loopy Landscape scenarios also don't impose or force time constraints (so you don't have to watch your park on auto-run while you wait out the remaining 2 years or whatever). My only complaint is that rollercoasters can fail with no fault on my part. For instance, certain failure cases (e.g. station break failure) will essentially just happen and is not preventable. You just have to save every few minutes and restart if it happens (or deal with the aftermath). Granted, perhaps this is true in real life as well -- even the best parks have accidents every now and then, but I don't think including this "feature" adds value to the game. Overall, an awesome game :)

This game and I go way back. I played it in my elementary school, I played it at a friends house and I used to not really know what I was doing (down to the bone, that is) but still have lots of fun with the park creation and management system. For the people who have ever wanted to create the ride of their dreams, flourish their park with scenery to their hearts content and/or run a park I would recommend this game without hesitation. I still play this game every now and again, and if you are a person to try to get a high score (Park Value) then you'll be trying to tweak/refine the scenario to its fullest! :)

I must say, since my first session with demo of this game I knew I was in love. My Gold edition still lies on the shelf (in great shape, I must admit) and I bought it here to have a reserve copy . This game achieved almost perfect balance between sweet sandbox gameplay and economic mechanics. RTC 2 and 3 are good games yet they try too hard, they are too much if you get my meaning. This one is simple and fun. Buy it

My childhood consisted of large quantities of this game. Even buying it after all these years, and starting it up again gets me all giddy! $2.99 because of the Holiday Sale, and with both expansions too! For that amount, one would be foolish to even pass up dabbling in this game! I have to say...this game still looks great after so many years, and I can truly say that I look forward to sinking probably TOO much time into it again! :P Definitely one of the best simulation games I've ever played, and truly a MUST BUY!!!
