PREY

I have enjoyed the game inmensley, however I have a problem, not only with this game, but with most games out there. The only way I could finish this game was by using cheats. At the beggining, I was very impressed, and I still am, but up to a point. These gamemakers have to come up with a really easy option, and although this game supposedly has one, after advancing a little on the game, there is no way in hell a normla peerson can even get to the half of it without cheating because they make it so difficult that onle a super being can finish it. Of course there are a lot of players that brag by saying how easy it was for them, but I don´t believe 90% of those braggards. Don´t get me wrong, the game and the story is amazing and genius in many ways, byt even in story mode, there was no way. Even with cheats, it is still hard. I have been a gamer since the Vic20, so I´m not a newbie. My message to gamemakers is for them to realize that not every player is a superman. Some of us are human beings. I am 76 yrs old and enjoy gaming very much, but please... have a heart with us normal humans.

Don't trust the trailer

I feel like the trailer has been tainted by the name, it kinda hints at a relation to the 2006 game. Reality is, it is it's own thing, heavily influenced by System Shock 2 and Dishonored, personally I'm not a big fan of Dishonored, but I can totally appreciate it's influence, and it definitely adds to this game. I love when the world around me seems real in a game like this. The game allows you to chose your own path, so they've made sure that whatever area you might find yourself in, feels like it's part of that world. You won't find some un-textured hidden area, and everywhere is full of "lore" you can usually find out exactly what happened with the people there, or get hints telling you where someone might have gone, without it being a part of a quest.

Best Arkane game and best immersive sim.

Prey is more than just an outstanding immersive sim It has a full immersive ambient sounds and locations. Mick Gordons music is did a lot of immerse background. I really felt like I'm at the space station. Sadly to think, but I must admit that Arkane may be not gonna jump like they did with Prey anymore. Dishonored yeah, but it's linear mostly. Thanks Arkane You give me a game emotions that worth like half-life 3 for me.

Not System Shock, yet unputdownable

I'm playing this game for a couple of hours now, taking my time to do side quests and try different approaches while plying on hard with survival addition. First of all, I read a lot about this being a spiritual or whatever successor to System Shock 1/2 and trust me, it's not. I love and still play both SS, but except from the "in space" setting, there are hardly similarities. SS is in the first place a shooter, a brilliant one with nice story, and in SS2 also with some basic skill system, but that is that. Prey on the other hand has only a minor set of lethal offensive weapons and skills. You can do it head on, but it is obviously clear, that this game expects from you to use wits and environment to your advantage and gives an extra portion of skills to do so. It's more like Thief in space as RPG simulation. Skills are gained by collecting neuromods, which are lying around or produced instead of gained by solving or killing. There are three 'human' the skill lines for stuff like hacking, repairing and firearms and three alien skill lines, which allow abilities from psionic blasts to morphing into objects lying around. The environments are quite appealing. Vast halls, arrays of offices, tiny maintenance corridors and zero-gravity outer space. There is a lot to explore and several ways to progress. All in all, the layout of departments and utilities of the space station makes sense which adds the the immersion that some reviews also mention. Enemies doesn't just spawn behind you randomly (like in SS). Instead, levels have a set number of enemies and only specific events or leaving and returning later may create new enemies. Another highlight is the story. Usually this is the weak spot; casual, predictable and more of a side kick while slaughtering yourself though the hordes. Here, the story is well told, interesting and captivating. You are never sure whom and which information to trust. From the very first moment you learn, that nothing is, what it seems.

Great Game kneecapped by budget

This game is one that deserves going through again. I'll get the bad out of the way first. After completion I realized the game felt narrow, and looking at all the endings on youtube I realized something was up. Turns out that Bethesda rushed the team to finish so a lot was quickly wrapped up so that story choices in the end didnt lead to as many unique endings. I believe this also impacted the game length as well as the lack of weapon options. I also wasn't a fan of fighting respawning enemies after I cleared an area in general for story reasons and for combat reasons. I just eventually ran past and accepted damage because in my mind I killed these guys already. However This was the first time in a long time I had enjoyed a game. It was scary as hell each time a new enemy was introduced. The pacing of adding them and unlocking new areas didn't leave me confused. With what was given, the game was focused and well executed. For the lack of weaponry, the skill tree was well made and gave unique playstyles I wish I try in different playthroughs. I hope that perhaps one day another game like this is made. Sadly the story wouldn't allow for sequel that could have the same feel, but I would like to see a sequel just for story. I was quite immersed in the secrets of the game's world. Trying to find out what is really going on, who is the one to trust? VO in this was top notch. Music played well into the mood. Solving encounters was great. The DLC sucks, but the main game rocks. I'd say its well worth the full price.
