Flawed but still good

I only recently brought and played this game after watching a playthrough on youtube. I am the first to agree that the game is far from perfect, the acting in many cases could have been better, and the characters themselves could have done with a bit more character development and depth too . The storyline seems to be inspired mostly by certain dark and violent fairytale but then a lot of stories borrow elements of folktales and/or myths...I see no problem with this in itself, I think this particular tale if done right in a video game could easily work and be genuinely scary and tragic , but in this case they didn't quite pull it off. Still, I liked this game despite its flaws, and it has a certain nostalgic appeal. If you like horror based adventures, and don't mind the gory death scenes -which at times are excessive, although there is a censor option-or slower-paced games (be warned the pace picks up dramatically in the last chapter) then perhaps give this game a try...or maybe watch a brief section on youtube if still unsure.

I Love this game

May sound weird, but some old games I love just because they bring up pleasant memories of the past. When I first played this game, way back when, my life was a lot more happy and stress free! Playing it brings back those warm feelings. Not to mention, I thoroughly enjoy it!

That bizzare felling

It is not a perfect game. It never was a perfect game... Even when it came out there were better point&click games, but this one gave us mood which was not seen back then. Real actors (with not best acting), interesting (to some degree) location, story (which could have been better) and music (which is really good). This game is like a trip to museum of game design. You will not come here for great graphics, acting, long or demanding gameplay... but it shows how games were done back then and how very long road we have traveled in past years. And yet when you deal with all these imperfections after several minutes you want to go deeper with this story and see its end.

Great For It's Time

This is one of the first horror games I played on PC. It gives you genuine surprises and a big playground to point and click without having to follow too strict a guideline. It is definitely worth replaying; depending on where you are at certain points different scenes and developments can or can't take place. The graphics are much better than some indie games of our time and the music is great. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good scare.

Great memories

I played this with my father back when it came out... the overlaid FMV characters are a bit janky, the FMV cutscenes are a bit cheesy, but it's actually fairly decent as a horror point-and-click adventure. Best memory: My dad making that "don't tell your mother" look at my little friends and I and then taking the "hand" cursor and moving it slowly over the female protagonist's curvy parts. ;)
