Difficult to understand

This is a classic game that has aged well. It harkens back to a time when a game was pro american and not about to appologize about it (unless you play the axis side)

Great game but literally impossible to progress on the Japanese (Axis) campaign past mission 5 with or without the cheat with the prestige bug. How am I supposed to fight a mission without any mechanized airdropped units? As a matter of fact - how the hell there are no airdropped units but light infantry, which gets mowed down like no tomorrow, while there were airdropped mechanized infantry and light tanks during the war? Talonsoft's West and East Front understood that and allowed you to airdrop all that. How the hell am I supposed to place all units, when there are no place to put some units? And so forth. Notably for the mission 5 - how the hell am I supposed to battle the entire Indian ocean fleet of the English and their entire land forces, wipe all of those out losing most of my forces in the process and still lose, because I didn't get to the opposite end of the map? That's ridiculous... Why nobody remembers the independence movements - notably Subhas Chandrabose in India and what would have hypothetically happened if the Japanese would have won the Burma campaign? Positive points - entertaining and has great potential with the combination of sea and land campaign, unfortunately not the entirety of the potential is used.

I'm waiting for the Mac version. I don't know if there will be one, but I can hope. Yes I know, I could use bootcamp, but I do not like using any version of Windows. First, note that the game is not entirely the same as Panzer General or Allied General. Panzer and Allied General require the player to take specific objectivists given a particular time limit. The time limit still exists in this game, but victory can be obtained if sufficient losses are inflicted upon the enemy (at least in some situations). Second, the ship combat is more detailed. Certain ships can enter shallow waters, such as destroyers and transport ships, while larger vessels such as heavy cruisers and battleships must stay within deep waters. This is not only realistic but can balance combat. After all, if not for the mechanic then certain ships could inflict devastating damage very far inland, making capital ships wonder weapons as far as the game is concerned. Third, the operations are smaller in scope than those in Allied or Panzer General. The player is not, for example, engaging in anything like the drive for Moscow in the original Panzer General or the rush into the heart of Germany from the Ruhr in the original Allied General. The operations are larger than in any of the Panzer sequels. For example, the Japanese player may find that he/she must secure a victory in the area around San Francisco, and may even have to make a concerted effort to advance the Japanese Empire across the Golden Gate Bridge. My review is being cut short by family matters. Just buy this game, or (hopefully) wait to buy a mac version.

Don't buy it - game is not working -get it elsewhere (another legend of our childhood ,ruined on this platform- broken by liars GOG) -damn it ,damn it and the game so freakin' awesome - jesus christ idiots GOG
