I love it
As a NWN vet from ancient times I thoroughly enjoy the Enhanced Edition. I've got Diamond Edition running on my old laptop (still running XP) with tons of community built modules and custom additions. But to be able to play it on my newer gaming rig with the enhanced visuals adds a sparkle and clarity that old fans can appreciate.

Jouable sur linux mais...
It's very good but it bugs under linux, the ram memory fills up progressively until the overdose, to avoid that you have to install an applet which allows to see the memory (cpu, network...). When the memory becomes to overflow you save and restart the game, sometimes ou have to restart the computer completely. Good game, it's cool ! Très bien mais il bug sous linux, la mémoire ram se remplie progressivement jusqu'à l'overdose, pour éviter cela il faut installer une applet qui permet de voir la mémoire (cpu, réseau...). Quand la mémoire sature on sauve et on relance le jeu, parfois l'ordi complètement. Bon jeu, il est cool !

Fun game
Ths game is similar to the OG Baldur's Gate games, but is in 3D. It has turn-based combat and allows you small choices that sort of impact how things unfold. So far I'm having fun with it. Would recommend if you like D&D games like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, etc.

More Toolset platform than Game
It's an odd title among all DnD spawn. Base campaign is ass. Far better expansions actually allow you to ignore it for the better. But the core of NWN lies in neither of those. It's in the community and how easy NWN makes experiencing and creating countless fan made campaigns called "modules". (check "neverwintervault.org") Now some of those modules are paid and available on GoG, most are not. Quality is not solely dependent on price tag. And they are not all mindless dungeon crawls mind you. There are detective stories with little emphasis on combat, survival experiences to name a few. You can stumble upon as many surprising gems as unfortunate stinkers of course. And new ones are still being made even now xD Which is why the "story" is rather poor way to evaluate Neverwinter Nights. Still, most (not all) campaigns do share some gameplay and visuals. Paid modules in particular often have their own music though. Gameplay: Combat is strictly real time, tab targeted with active pause. It's similar to oldschool Baldur's Gate with some upgrades and one significant downgrade. Upgrades mostly come in form of D&D 3e... it's stripped down version of 3.5 if you are familiar with that. It means you can make some really bad, ineffective character builds xD Downgraded is party control. Your henchmen do their own thing most of the time. Give them some instructions either through dialogue or odd wheel based ui (through right click) and that's it. It's never precise or 100% reliable. Also don't expect to have full on party. It's mostly one man show but in pinch you can take with you 1, sometimes couple extras. HUD is closer to MMO than your typical cRPG, but does the job well enough. Inventory management is pain in the butt though. Visuals: Game looked underwhelming when it came out and it still does. Blocky characters. Stiff Animations. Artificial looking locations. There are mods to make it shinier in pretty much every aspect of course but baseline will never blow your mind. Sound: Lots of good musical notes although base campaign can make them painful due to how long it keeps you in the same locations xD Couple tracks could even be called iconic. Sound effects are sadly limited in number. When you start spellcasting it will be fun until you figure out your entire spellbook uses something like 7 sound effects in total. Voice acting is rare. Official campaigns and some paid modules have bits of quality voice acting but it's never full for better or worse. So... If you can bear it or even find enjoyment in it. If you prioritize experiencing countless stories over mechanical prowess you will have yourself a game for life. And if you are an avid modder yourself ooh boy! Otherwise it's mid. Cheers!

I put this as a three-star as a sort of "in-the-middle" neutral review to make sure people understand something (hope that doesn't sound confrontational, this is just meant as a PSA for those who don't read descriptions fully; which is also not meant to sound confrontational or accusatory, I don't care what you read, I'm just trying to help you out). This "Enhanced" version, a term I use loosely as it doesn't really contribute much of anything worth noting, actually includes the original Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition (the complete edition of the game, basically). The store link for Diamond in my library has been changed to lead to here and I checked the description: it does indeed state that you will get the original version unaffected if you want it. I can't recommend the original Neverwinter Nights highly enough. I played it before I even knew what "D&D" was and there have been few RPGs that have ever been even close to the love I feel for this game. Even the sequel pales by comparison. It is a masterpiece of world-building, as well as storytelling, and once you realize you can use custom maps to create your own unique armor sets and items (complete with their own descriptions and abilities) or even just your own short and fun little campaign or "breath of fresh air" relaxation spot, this game becomes something you'll want to come back and play every year. Diamond Edition itself is a five-star game. I only avoid giving the Enhanced Edition anything more because from what I've heard it's nothing special and I don't want to give a good review to a version I cannot personally verify. At the same time I won't give a poor review to a game I love without personal experience, either. They haven't raised the price to a ridiculous height, so I see no reason you should avoid picking this up. $20 is a steal for this game and GOG is a good way to buy it, DRM-free, as it was back in the day (well... more or less; start-up disc DRM was a thing by then, I think).
