Majesty 2 Collection

I am still working to complete this game, having only bought it 2 days ago, but I am getting close to halfway through the base game and feel I have enough experience to review it. Over all I find this game unique and fun, I love building sims, micro-managing the situation so I am enjoying this game. So far the game makes you adapt how you start each scenario as one method doesn't always work for the next. The 3 main problems I have with it are, there is no way to change keybindings as far as I can see and searches produce results of people saying they can't find away to change them either. There is no way to actually make your hero(es) do something, you can set a task/quest for them to do, but sometimes they are slow to respond. And finally there is an option once you finish a scenario to take a hero on with you, it would be nice if there was a way to remove heroes from that list every time you can add a hero to the list. As a new comer to the Majesty series Majesty 2 has been my introduction. Initially I was a little hesitant about trying it, a lot of reviews that didn't shine a very good light on it, but I started noticing that most of the negative was because it was different from the original. As someone who has played a game and had a hard time getting into the sequel I can completely understand their position, but that actually encouraged me to buy it. Just like books and movies I try to look at sequels as their own thing and viewed in that light it makes it easier to enjoy the new offering.

It's nice game with an inovative game mechanic. But it is way to hard. It's like you are the ants and you build an ant hill and then there comes the child with the spyglass. The next level would be the kid with an tank of industrial strength ant killer. You don't get to the third campain...

I love Majesty 1 & 2. But this game very often break down and you see your desktop. The best thing now: I was far in the campaign. Maybe the last mission. Then the game break down again and all my progress was away and I must start a new campaign again. This can't be acept! I detele this game.

Forget what other people are saying about this game, it is pure unadulterated awesome. Sure, gameplay and difficulty levels both fluctuate, and you can really stretch a mission out if you want to, but these are the kinds of relativistic quibbles that only gaming snobs would pick on, people who are too jaded - or perhaps not jaded enough - to just take the good with the bad. This game is damn good. Think of it as being in charge of World of Warcraft. This is how I like to approach the game, my own little pseudo-RP if you will. You have WoW inspired classes, WoW-inspired items for them to loot and equip, WoW-inspired upgrades, a WoW-inspired economy, and a rather WoW-inspired quest/leveling system. This heavy WoW derivation is not a bad thing, and it may not be a deliberate thing, but this is the overall effect I get from this game: that I am directing and nurturing a population of individual heroes, each with their own personalities and progressions through the game, eventually helping them clear out these maps and level up. You just set down banners - to explore, kill, defend etc - and add a few hundred gold to the banners, encouraging your AI controlled heroes to, if the price is right, commit themselves to your cause. See a rampaging minotaur streaking towards an undefended part of town? Slap a kill banner and 500 gold on the sucker and pray that soon you'll see a multitude of heroes streaming towards him. Is your objective to kill a formidable foe? Level your heroes by systematically clearing the map before dropping a few thousand gold on a kill banner for baddie, and watch a 20 man raid light up the place. You can even form them into parties - tank, heals, dps, perhaps you know the deal? At the end of missions you can keep your favourite hero! The original Majesty was a masterpeice of a game which brought a new way of doing things to the genre, and I have no problems with it, but this progression into the modern age of RTS gaming has been a great success.
