Did not hold up to the nostalgia

The short of it is that this game did not age well. I absolutely loved both Magic Carpet games in my youth. But coming back to them now, it just doesn't work anymore. It starts of with being difficult to get the game running at the right speed - it's either too fast or choppy pretty much all the time, even after tuning DosBOX as much as possible. Then, as many have already said, the controls are not great. More importantly though, the gameplay isn't quite there either. Just a lot of zooming around shooting and getting damaged by ambushes in a way that doesn't feel very communicative of what's going on. Lots of good ideas, but really just a mash of half-baked execution of most of them.

Cannot believe my eyes

I forgot this game till I saw it again in GOG, I lost my breath for a second remembering playing this game and how fun it was. Thank you GOG, you guys are awesome

Good game, poor controls

I used to play this game on playstation, and had loads of fun. But this computer version is simply infuriating. The controls are simply inconvenient and counter-intuitive. You can't invert the vertical mouse movement, it's overly sensitive, and many commands (like changing spells) will require you to reach across your keyboard and hit shift-5 or something like that-- which is not something you want to have to do in the middle of a fight. I bought the game for less than $2.50, and I'm regretting even that. I know it's a good game, but these controls are just awful.

Broken Controls

The controls are among the most awkward and frustrating I have ever encountered. Also the entire layout of the game is uninspired. I didn’t think I’d like it, but I heard great things so when I saw it was on sale I thought I would try it. But my instincts were right and I don’t like it at all.
