Opis
Jenny LeClue is a thrilling story of mystery, adventure and growing up. Set in the sleepy town of Arthurton, the game is filled with memorable, complex characters and rendered in a unique aesthetic.

Embrace the choosiness and shape the metanarrative. You are not the only guiding hand shaping Jenny’s destiny, but your choices will help her unravel the tangled mystery and become the detective she was born to be.

Jenny gets more than she bargains for when her mother is accused of murder, and begins an unexpected journey to find the truth.

She soon discovers the idyllic town of Arthurton is not what it seems, and unseen forces will stop at nothing to keep Jenny from the truth. She will need all her skills of deduction to find the real killer and clear her mother’s name.

A pocket-sized heroine on a big quest for justice:
Jenny is a brilliant young detective, sharp eyed, intuitive and a ruthless pursuer of the truth. She is able to look around during dialogue scenes, observing the subject for visible clues that might reveal their guilt or innocence that would otherwise go undetected.

A beautiful handmade world, packed with secrets:
A sleek, gorgeous hand drawn world with vintage mid-20th century aesthetics and mystery squished into every corner. There’s so much to interact with, and players who poke and prod at every last thing are rewarded with insight, secrets, and humor.

A story within a story, where your choosiness matters:
Jenny LeClue weaves a rich metanarrative around a rich story exploring themes of family, loss, and identity. The "author" of Jenny's adventures, Arthur K Finklestein, acts as narrator and guide, but his presence also allows you to make choices that change the way Jenny's story is written. These choices may even affect Finklestein’s own story.

A Diverse Cast Of Characters & Locations:
Explore Arthurton’s expansive world including the abandoned mines, the forgotten graveyard, Lake Noware, and Gumboldt's Library. Jenny will meet an array of intriguing and suspicious characters who could help or hinder her on her quest for the truth.

Frustrating at Times but Mostly Charming

There were times in Jenny LeClue where I was pretty frustrated but it was hard to stay mad at the game. It has a lot of charm and is just very likeable. The characters have depth and humour; the town has history and class; the world has a brightness and great art design to it. The music was enjoyable although a bit repetitive. The puzzles are a very mixed bag and the game has some technical warts but nothing that is game breaking. The game consists of using the keyboard to move Jenny along in a side scroller manner and solving various puzzles to progress the story. You get the option to choose various dialogue responses in between the puzzles. You also get to interrogate various people by having to notice certain clues on their person and then using those clues to form a correct hypothesis about whatever you suspect them of. Many of the puzzles are very easy and just overly apparent what you have to do to solve them but there were these radio wave puzzles where you have to adjust a variety of dials and switches to just the right combination to hear the message or see the video, I found these very annoying. It would have been better had the dial or switch locked in when it was in the right spot so that I wasn’t constantly readjusting them. The story was really well done and had a good amount of twists. It also did a good job of using the stories author as a narrator and I found many of his comments about Jenny’s escapades to be pretty funny. The game ends on a cliffhanger which annoyed many people but I didn’t mind it. I won’t let the last few minutes of a game ruin the previous many hours of enjoyment I had. Surprisingly engaging visual mystery

Jenny LeClue is tough to rate, because it has a strange mixture: it's a visual novel, but without the robust storytelling, inside a game whose mechanics are often underwhelming and superfluous. It seems like a recipe for disaster, but overall I found it charming and had a hard time pulling away from it. You take the role of Jenny, a kid detective who has grown disillusioned with the small-town cases she constantly encounters. The case of the missing glasses; the case of the dean's breakfast; she craves a real case that will challenge her brilliant mind... and that's when someone close to her turns up dead. You have to find clues and solve puzzles to help Jenny solve the murder, and discover the secret truth it uncovers about her unassuming town. The game has a rough opening which gives a bad impression, but once you encounter the main plot the game really picks up both in story and in "play". I use quotes around play, because the game is largely hunting for the next clue that propels the narrative forward, with some puzzles thrown in here and there. The clue hunts are mostly dressed up "press X to continue" segments, while the puzzling ranges from trivial to decent. You won't actually be solving any mysteries here which is kind of disappointing, and will really turn some people off. However, the game does a really nice job of making it *feel* like you're solving mysteries. The use of the narrator providing exposition, punctuated by Jenny's sarcastic observations and comments captures the feeling of being in a detective story brilliantly. I was laughing out loud in places, and it had me constantly guessing. The writing and the characters were surprisingly good, and there were moments of genuine wonder and "a-ha!" leading up to the heroic denouement. The game does end on an abrupt cliffhanger, which is kind of a bummer to have to wait and maybe never find out what happens to these characters I grew to care about.

Simple and enjoyable

Jenny LeClue could be considered a childreen's point and click adventure, the gameplay is simple, you move around in a 2D plane having conversations and interacting with objects to make things move aliong, the closest thing you get to an inve3ntory is your journal, but the game is so easy you could go the entire game without even opening if you pay attention. This said, the game itself is fantastic, it took me back to simpler times, the lack of difficulty makes it a perfect cozy game to wind down for a few hours, where you follow the adventure of Jenny to solve a murder mistery and a shady conspiracy, framed as a book of a desperate writer trying to regain fame as his books about Jenny's adventure have grown stale over the years. There are twist and turns to the story, colorful characters, nice artstyle and music, the cliffhanger ending was a bit disappointing, but I really hope the devs can deliver a sequel, because I'm hooked.

an incredible journey

i got this game on the switch granted but i just had to come here and write it a love letter for those who need to see it. this is an amazing game with drop dead gorgeous setting, fun and quirky characters and artwork a game that really takes itself seriously while it needs to and then lays off and puts on a good comedy show while you sit back and enjoy its so freaking cute i played this game once and i loved it then i kept playing it over and over for my inner child and kept loving it. jenny is a cool determined deep and caring character and that will carry you throughout her story

Good overall, but has some issues.

This game is beatiful and the story is interesting. I just with the expereince of trying play it was better, This game is amazing if you can put up with the controls. This game was not intended for play with a mouse and keyboard. in fact this game lacks any mouse support whatsoever, The keybinds are also fixed, I hope you like playing keyboard only or with a controller because you have no choice. I hate harping on this but the game does not control well. I wish it did but it doesn't. The real porcupine in the mix are the segment where you need to both climb an object and push it wich uses the same buttons. You'll often find yourself pushing an item you intend to climb and while it doesn't come up often it does some up. The games journal is nice but clunky due to the lack of mouse support. Combine that with the controls being slow, janking and sometimes unresponsive and its not ideal. Its also not always clear when you can run and when you cant, sometimes run isn't availible and you'll find yourself pressing it fruitlessly. The game doesn't punish you too much for this but anything it makes you backtrack you're going to be feeling the sting. Its rare but it happens. I hope the next entry does a UX Pass because this game needs one. I should probably be more forgiving its clearly a linear game meant to be played once and its not bad at any level. The controls just mean its not one I'm likely to replay anytime soon. I don't wanna discourage people buying this game just... play it with a controller and save yourself.
